Hidden Springs State Forest — Attraction in Illinois

We camped here for 9 days we ended up stranded here with no car longer than we were supposed to be. Our ride was supposed to pick us up in 2 days. Unbenounsed to us our phones did not work and we were unfamiliar with the area. The lady park attendent was real nice she gave me a ride to the store twice. But her husband was really rude. We waitied on our ride till right before dusk and when we did hear anything and noone showed we asked to use the phone informing him we got no reception. Offered him money for the use we were refused. So my husband walked to the nearest town. When he didnt show up after 2 hours I called 911 since that was the only number i could get out on my phone. He was upset that i asked for the address to the camp ground. If you have to stay here bring an old flip phone those get reception. Dont get stranded. As a thank you to the woman i cleaned up the entire back area all the camp areas. But this man needs to be kept behind the scenes he was even rude about informing me about telling me that my Mother called worried since I had no way to reach her with no...

Secluded. Off the beaten path. Campground host was great. Has two sections, first section more opened with playground in center, other section more wooded. Has pit toilets, no AC, some pull in sites. First section is better suited for tent camping has many grassy areas. We had a great time here. Nice and quiet. Saw turkeys, deer, other...
