I was here for a wedding and it was gorgeous. Tons of space to spread out for dancing and dining. The food was spot on and service was excellent. The party started off in the front atrium with small hors d'euvres and cocktails for meet and greet. We were able to roam outside freely, take pics and mingle. We then moved to the dining room which had the dance floor in the middle and dozens of round tables on either side. The head table was in the middle at the foot of the dance floor. The space has huge picture windows and was beautiful. Dinner and drinks were delicious; I had a great vegetarian dish with veggies and puff pastry. There was another bar towards the back which let to a back outdoor terrace with twinkle lights all over and a fire going which was perfect for a cool night. All in all, a stellar location that I would highly recommend.

We've visited here twice. Once bicycling and yesterday we walked the lower trail closest to the lake. The pavilions aren't open yet so there are no bathrooms, etc. But catch and release fishing is allowed. The DesPlaines River Trail connects with the walking paths so you can get there from the north or south by car or riding/walking the DRT. Good amount of parking but because of the size of this preserve your best bet is going early on weekends. Beautiful landscaping, room for everyone. Pavilion rentals as well as small day sailing boats when things open up. Beautiful trees! Fall color will be a treat. Of all the Lake County Forest Preserves we've visited, this one is by far the most impressive. Not knocking the others, at all, but this one must be the crown jewel!

Very beautiful park & forest preserve, to spend quality time with friends and family. Also great settings for photoshoot and workout( walking, jogging and biking) Multiple waterbodies are connected via trails and walkways. There is a small beach area for swimming, which is guarded by life guards during summer. There is entry fee for people outside lake county. ( but this time of the year, the park is open to all, with no entry fee)Crystal clear water is another highlight. Absolutely enjoyed the place. Watching Sunset from Independence Grove was absolutely delightful.

My go-to meditation, mental health check, and cardio space. For years, this has been a great place to unleash and enjoy nature. It's always clean, and staff and safety officers are always in view, and there is always something to do. You can always find an area to be alone or to be near others. The summer months, on Tuesdays, there's a perfect lineup of concerts. They've added a beer garden where you can purchase some great items. You can bike ride, run, walk, hike, or sit and watch the sun come up or down, take family portraits, and more. It's beautiful! Always!

Without a doubt, this place is fantastic for families. Personally, I love coming here for my runs—it's perfect. I can complete the whole circuit and usually manage to get in 3-4 miles. During summertime, it's a hotspot for obvious reasons. There's the adorable coffee shop, the inviting bar for drinks, live concerts, and the option to rent boats or canoes—there's just so much to love about it here. However, it's worth noting that dogs aren't allowed, which can be seen as both a positive and a negative. On the upside, it keeps the area cleaner and more pleasant.
