My family I were on vacation over near meramec caverns for the summer. We were looking for places to zipline and couldn't find anywhere near us (that had decent reviews). I found Shawnee bluffs canopy tour on Google and saw their amazing reviews. They were however two and a half hours away from where we were staying. Following the good remarks we took the journey past three other zipline places to come to this place. Spoiler alert, 100% worth the trip.
The staff were very accommodating, helpful, funny, and interactive. There was no point during the tour that I felt bored or neglected. We personally had Megan and Ethan for our tour. Safety precautions were well thought through and checked constantly. At no point during my experience did I feel unsafe. I even leaned off the edge a couple times with no other support than from the metal bar I was connected to. For someone that's terrified of heights, I felt no issue doing so.
All the zip lines were well made and provided a wonderful viewing experience throughout the entire course. The lines take you deeper into the woods where you can witness thenthe to its fullest extent flying between the trees like the birds you'll see. The final zipline that you will ride that takes you back up towards the main station has a speedometer at the lowest point that shows how fast you were going when you passed it. They say you can reach speeds up to 45 mph, I hit 41 myself.
Overall I would rate my experience at 10 out of 10 any day of the week. This is a wonderful experience and absolutely worth the two plus hour drive that we did to get there. It was extremely memorable! The next time we're in the area we will most definitely be coming back to take another ride.
One last note, tips are appreciated for the tour guides and it will be split up evenly between the two that...
Read moreGreat place for the whole family! Our tour was roughly 2.5 hours. Very knowledgeable and helpful instructors. They are more than accommodating to customers who have a fear of heights. They take all of the necessary precautions and safety measures which makes the experience even more enjoyable. The scenery is beautiful and many memories were made here! There is also a moderate amount of hiking to the zip line destination points, so I suggest wearing hiking boots AND bug spray. Water is provided at many different points of the tour.
The only thing I wish that could have been different: Their camera policy. They do not allow you to bring your own camera, but they do take multiple pictures for you, which you can purchase after the tour is complete. This was a disappointment to us because 75% of our pictures were blurry, and we had to purchase them, wait for them to be emailed to us (hours later) to realize their quality. Pictures should be included in the price...
Read moreSo I'm married to a real talker and his best friend is too... so I was so happy we were in a group of just the 3 of us! Our guides Grant and Will were spot on! The instruction was clear and professional, they were professional and A LOT of fun, and they put up with all the talking and question asking from the hubs and friend! Will had a lot of great jokes and it was such a laid back experience. The lines were great and fast. The trees were starting to turn so it was beautiful. It is a long way out there so follow the GPS. You can't take anything in the trees with you so leave your stuff in the car or you can put it in the bucket at the front desk. They will take some photos of you along the way and share them via Google drive. They also provide water along the route. I HIGHLY recommend this tours if you are adventurous. We took the 3 hour tour and it only lasted about an hour and 40 mins because there were only 3 of us. Stretch and be ready for the...
