Beautiful state park with so many things to do . We love to go here in middle October when the leaves have started to change . If you have a bigger camper or horse trailer you’ll need to use the west entrance as the north entrance has a covered bridge which is narrow and only an 9foot clearance . The hiking trails are well maintained and offer various degrees of difficulty, lots of different lengths to choose from as well. We enjoyed staying at the campground . The sites we had were near the front in Buffalo Ridge . They had a decent amount of space between each site , along with a fire pit, and picnic table. Lots of dumpsters available to dispose of your trash . It would be nice if they had a different way to put numbers on the sites as the wood poles make it hard to navigate into the site without taking them out of the ground . The bathrooms were well kept up . The store was nice and had a variety of things to purchase . It just needs a slushie machine , wink wink . There was two different areas to dump your rv waste . It would be nice if they strictly enforced the one car per site as it can be kind busy and tight with all the cars . We had a wonderful time hiking with our fur kids on some of the trails . If you plan on camping and not sure what site you would like there is great video on YouTube that shows what each site looks like - Rob Net UTube. Can’t wait to...
Read moreBrown County State Park and Nashville IN, hold a special place in my heart, serving as the backdrop to some of my happiest childhood memories. The park, with its rolling hills, dense forests, and breathtaking vistas, is like stepping into a peaceful, untouched world. I remember the thrill of hiking along its trails, the crunch of leaves underfoot, and the scent of pine and earth all around. Each season brought its own magic—whether it was the vibrant explosion of colors in the fall or the tranquil snow-covered landscapes in winter.
Nashville, with its charming small-town feel, was always a delight to visit. The cozy shops, filled with handmade crafts and local treats, gave the town an air of warmth and creativity. Wandering through the streets, there was always something new to discover, whether it was a unique piece of art or the perfect candy from a local confectionery.
The combination of the natural beauty of the park and the quaint charm of Nashville created a perfect environment for a childhood filled with exploration, joy, and a deep connection to nature. These memories are treasures I carry with me, and they remind me of the simple, profound happiness that comes from spending time in such a beautiful place.

Read moreBeautiful park — plan your fall foliage and horseback riding ahead!
Visited Brown County State Park on October 12, 2025, and it’s as beautiful as ever! If you’re visiting for the fall foliage, keep in mind that the colors have just started to appear — only a few trees are showing reds and yellows right now. For the best fall colors, plan your trip around the last week of October, when the scenery is usually at its peak.
If you’re planning to go horseback riding, make sure to register your names right after entering the park. The wait time can be around 4 hours, especially on weekends. While you wait, you can explore some of the park’s highlights without driving back and forth: • Ogle Lake – peaceful and perfect for photos • West Lookout Tower – amazing panoramic view of the hills • Nature Center – great exhibits and rest area • North Lookout Tower – beautiful sunrise and sunset views
Entry fees: • Indiana residents: $7 per vehicle • Out-of-state visitors: $9 per vehicle
It’s absolutely worth it — the trails, views, and atmosphere make for an unforgettable day. I’ve attached some photos showing the early fall colors so you can get an idea of...
