From what I could see this is a very peaceful, people oriented, safe place. The park situated a ways off the main street surrounds you with mature trees and foliage giving you the feeling of being way deeper in nature than being within a park in a growing town. Well kept it appeared to have been freshly mowed and all trash containers passed or viewed were either empty or low showing signs of recent maintanence. The facilities I had come for which were the RV potable water filling station and the RV waste disposal station were of immaculate condition, both being apparently freshly cleaned, in good working order, and had no wait to use either. Donations appreciated- however both stations are offered free-of-charge. This is a highlight of the hospitable public service from Jennings County and exhibits the caring, charming and generosity of the people that call North Vernon or The City of Vernon home. Through passing observation In noted several game courts, play areas full of happy kids and peaceful parents, and immediately noticed 8 or 10 very nice, pull through, full hook up RV camping sites that appeared well spaced, well maintained, and close to both the park entrance as well as offered facilities including an on site shower house. I plan on camping there with my RV sometime soon and whether having a desire to camp, hike, or just spend some time at a nice quiet place I would recommend Muscatatuck Park as one of the best I've seen in Indiana as a lifelong resident. Good job Jennings County keep up the great work! Your park should be an example and inspiration for all of the parks in our state. The way it is operated and used should be...
ย ย ย Read moreI hadn't been to the Muscatatuck Park in a few years now. And now, after coming here this weekend for the 36th annual Rally of the Hoosier Beemer BMW motorcycle Rally, I was quite surprised at all the improvements that have been made here at the Muscatatuck Park. This was my first time attending this Rally of the Hoosier Beemers. Which I found out that they are responsible for the NEW to me Restroom/bath house facility. Built in 2019. There is a real nice play area with a splash pad thingy just past the newer restoom/bath house for the kids to play on during the summer months I suppose. Too cool ! I rode back through the park's camp grounds and it was pretty busy back there with lots of spaces occupied. Looked like fresh Gravel had been put down all through the camp ground also. I worked at this Park back when I was 15 under a low income summer job grant. ( I'm going to be 64 in a few months ) And I must say, this Park has so much to offer now. They also have Mountain Biking trails which I've ridden on about 7 years ago. Way to go Jennings county on keeping this lil gem of a Park alive and well. ...
ย ย ย Read moreWow! What an experience. When we got there I wanted to explore the water turner thing but some people were on it hogging it up and calling their friends and it would have been disrespectful to interrupt them, even though they were already doing a good job at that. So then we took some pictures and went down to the creek. It was so muddy from all of the rain. I wanted to hop in some muddy puddles but my better judgment said no. So then I walked along the road to find the perfect picture spot. Standing in front of a 30 foot drop off into raging water I posed as gracefully as a ballerina and I snapped that selfie quicker than when I want to get a cookie out of the sink to eat. Then I raced back to my car and thankfully it didnโt roll away this time. So then I went on an adventure. I went geocaching! I searched and searched. I found that dang little bottle, claimed my prize and put a little trinket inside. Then I hopped back in the car and I skiddadled on...
