What an amazing Indiana State Park. We arrived on Thursday evening and we’re informed that the dump stations at the family campground were closed for renovations. However the dump stations at the horseman’s camp were open. We drove there to dump and found newly renovated dump stations that were clean, easy to get to and completely updated. After dumping we drove across the street to the newly updated fresh water filling stations, again nicely renovated and super clean! The renovations on the dump stations at the family campground are complete and they will reopen on 8/7/23. Every @INDNR property should duplicate what they are doing! 4 water stations at one time and there will be 5 dump stations. The camp grounds were separated into about 5-6 different sections. With a bathhouse in the middle of each section which were clean and air conditioned. Overall around 250-300 campsites. The sites were all level and large. A fire pit and picnic table at each site. The park itself was amazing! Big lake with a beach for swimming and a place to rent boats. There are paved bicycle paths. You can rent bikes at the camp store. There are plenty of nature programs to attend geared towards children and adults alike. We volunteered to walk the resident Eastern Box Turtle, Lilly, as part of the Explore Program, we also went to the Potter Cemetery to view some of the oldest gravesites. Totally fascinating. This is a beautiful property and one that we intend on visiting again.

Rented the family cabins for the 1st time at Potato Creek State Park. They were spacious and clean. They only have pots and pans, so you need to bring everything else you need. We brought disposable paper plates, bowls, cups and utensils to make it easier. We brought our own linens and towels. We brought our own toiletries and shower stuff. Cabin heater worked well, but if you like extra blankets you can bring those too. The cabin could sleep up to 8 people. Blow up beds/sleeping bags would work to bring too but they do have 4 roll out beds in each of the rooms. Their 2 couches also are comfy, but worn. The beds were not comfortable, and our sleep wasn't great. The enclosed porch area was nice, but cold. The park was beautiful to explore the fall season. The cabins were more affordable than renting through air b n b etc. If cabins upgraded to add linens, towels, kitchen items, better beds this would be a better deal than renting elsewhere. More people could benefit from enjoying the park. We also did s'mores in their outdoor firepit under the stars which was a great escape from the busy city with sirens etc. There is a wood burning stove inside the cabins as well. They do have bike rentals or you can bring your own. They also have a store, but it's small and prices are high. We brought mostly everything we needed with us. Hiking was also nice, but we didn't really get to explore the park too much while we were there. Highly recommend to check out and see what you think :)

I've lived in Northern Indiana my whole life and, somehow, have overlooked Potato Creek State Park. But no more... Our family just spent the weekend in one of the cabins and it was amazing. Two bedrooms, large family room, and a beautiful enclosed porch. The kitchen has a full stove (electric), microwave, and a fridge. Large dining table (easily seats 6 adults) Two large couches (probably fake leather but very comfortable) and several chairs round out the living area. My only complaint was the mattresses on the beds. Firm to the point of feeling like fabric covered concrete slabs (OK, that's a bit of exaggeration but they were definitely uncomfortable. ) Worster Lake dominates the landscape of the park but provides plenty of boating and fishing opportunities not to mention some beautiful pictures. Hiking, bicycle, and horse riding trails provide hours of outdoor activities. Next year we will try out the campground. Bottom line, Potato Creek State Park is well worth a visit if you like the outdoors.

This is a beautiful state park with a great variety of trails through a variety of different habitats. Maps are available at the main gate and have descriptions of each trail and their difficulty level. Well placed benches along the trailsoffer places to rest and appreciate the views. There is a campground, and also some nice family cabins tucked into the forest. There's also a popular swimming beach and boat rental in the summer. A long paved bike trail, as well as mountain bike trails, wind through the park. Bike rental is offered at the campground general store. There are fishing piers and boat launches. A fish cleaning station is also available. In addition, at the back of the park is a wonderful nature center, which offers a lot of different programs throughout the year. There are playgrounds dotted throughout the park and shelters available to rent. They are currently building an inn, so there are construction vehicles and construction noise at the front of the park.

I can only really speak for the Campground. The RV sites here were small and grass. So not good when there's been rain. Smaller units will have an easier time. We used it as a launch point to go to Chicago without having to stay in Chicago. As well as to go the Dunes National Park. We booked online and were NOT told about the water and dump being unavailable at the campground with a temporary set up 2 miles away in the park. Upon checking in I asked the young lady where we fill our tanks with fresh water. She directed us to spigots by the bathhouses and a temporary fill station. The water at the bathroom was not reaching anyone's camper. So, we drove with the rig back out and down the long, bumpy, jarring road to where they made really simple shabby temp water lines. From a 40+ year old bathroom. The dumpstation set-up was a joke. Someone didn't understand gravity, or, has never dumped an RV black and gray before. The rest of the place seemed wild and clean.
