Let's talk pros a d cons Pro Paved bike paths, plenty of full hook up sites, lots of nice clean trails, surrounded by prairie , activities hosted by park to keep kids and adults interested, fun water park (must be 48inches to go on slides though the lifeguards weren't insane about this), the farm, the visitor center is cool, native American structures, very well maintained, SO many water fountain/spickets around campground Cons No free water options (fishing doesn't count. A beach would have been fun), lots of E-bikes flying by dangerously fast if kids had popped out of nowhere they would have been screwed. Playground at entrance of campground (would have been nice to have it tucked in the back) Really, there weren't a ton of negatives. This was an ideal location with a decent amount of stuff for the kids to do. In our opinion, if we don't hear I'm bored a few times, then the kids are overstimulated. This was by far the prettiest state park we have been to. It's great for a day trip, but you can't miss a sunrise or sunset with the prairie. We took advantage of a float trip with Wildcat Canoe and Kayak, too. This experience was fun and made a nice addition to the overall trip.

I had some time to work on my IN DNR Nature Passport and this park was in my vicinity. I was very excited I decided to come here! This park is terrific! Indiana has some wonderful State Parks all of which have wooded trails that somewhat look identical in many ways. However, the trails here are brilliant and fresh! You get to walk through prairies that would resemble what the explorers walked through before the state was settled. Actually, these trails are even better; they are mowed! Where else could you go and hike barefoot on marked, mowed, grass trails? There are so many sights, sounds, smells, and experiences here. Furthermore, there is a working historical farm to tour, a replica of an early settlement village, paved bike trails, a fishing pond, and a very nice and modern aquatic center. This is unlike any other state park I’ve been to in the state and is currently my favorite!

First time today, wanted to take advantage of the cooler weather. I hiked trails 3 and 4 and they were beautiful. The restoration going on along trail 4 is cool; seems like there's native plantings going on in strips and between them is kept mowed, presumably to allow the native plants to get going. I got a little turned around so I ended up taking the paved trail back to where I parked. Loved the paved trail, lots of people out and about. I will definitely return to check out the rest of the park. Looks like they have a part of the park showing how the indigenous peoples who resided there lived. Not very many benches along 4 unfortunately. I just plopped down on the ground to rest. I appreciate the cutouts to overlook the water along trail 4 as well. Lovely park! It's apparently the newest Indiana State Park, established in 2004, definitely will return!
