I've loved going to Sullivan Lake & Campgrounds since I've been a child! This time I brought my son & nephew and we had an awesome time until we were trying to leave that Sunday 6/30. A storm came through suddenly ans luckily we could take cover in a fishing cabin but we lost power. Then we tried to leave and were told by fellow camper that trees & power lines were done and we couldn't get out. So we waited and waited, no power but since it was almost midnight and my mom & I had to work Monday morning I tried to get out. No one came to tell us what was going on anything about the power lines, to see if anyone was okay etc. When I went to leave I came to a power truck in the middle of the road working and they told me that they thought I could make it around the truck Then I made it to the front gate and asked what was going on with people not have access in/out and he explained it was only back near G & fishing cabins, which I explained I had just driven from and he said, "No Kidding?" So , I'm disappointed in the fact that we had to stay so late and not one park official bothered to come let us know what was going on (they could've driven and then walked) nor bothered to make sure no one was hurt. I just worry about the emergency factor, had someone been seriously injured or sick there was no emergency exit/entrance nor any protocol to...
Read moreThis is more a review of the fishing cabins and fishing amenities. They say the cabin is 12x20 which may be the outside measurement but 4 ft of that is a porch so the inside is more like 11x15. It's okay for one or two people but not really three. They also claimed to have a full size fridge in our cabin but it was a mini fridge. Luckily the freezer worked well and was barely big enough to fit bags of our fish that we caught on the lake.
The showers were closed because of covid when we went but they looked nice enough. They didn't have benches or hooks but I'm guessing they took those out since they were closed. The toilets in the bath house were nice and clean, the sinks as well. The hot water did stink a bit though.
The boat ramp is awesome. Piers on each side of it so two boats can launch or come in at the same time. The fish cleaning house was also really nice. Nice grinder hoses and it was up high so you didn't have to break your back hunching over.
Overall it wasn't bad camping if you knew what you were getting into. We had something a little different in mind...
Read moreI've been going here for probably about 14 or so years. This year has been by far the most upsetting. The park decided it would be a great idea to remove the dock leading from lovers lane to the boat ramp. That dock was a great fishing spot for young kids, was home to many nesting spots for fish, and left that cove alone for shore fishermen. Now it has been replaced with a locked dock. I guess it wouldn't be as bad if the dock wasn't locked but it is. The boat ramp isn't good for shore fisherman do to the boats and crowd of people, and anywhere else just isn't that great. That dock was probably the best in the park for shore fisherman. Not a lot of us can afford boats. My biggest reason to come here was fishing and because its a huge part of my childhood. But this disappoints me that i cant fish comfortably on the dock or in the cove because boats also are parking on whats left of the sandy shore. I cant say I want to be coming here much longer, especially if they keep making these...
