Sunset Hill is a remarkable multipurpose park where you can walk in the woods, prairie, sunflower fields, a farm setting with animals, a natural science facility, science building, Illiana railroad station, Christmas light display that is a multi state attraction every year. There are miles of walking trails, a historic power association event each year where you can see a steam powered sawmill, live music, food vendors and crafts, flee market, a display of antique tractors and other farm machinery that ends the weekend with a parade. Any day of the year is the perfect day to visit Sunset Hill Park. This park gets my highest recommendation in Indiana. They have something for every person, young or old, mobile or not. This is a perfect venue for special needs people as there is so much space and never is crowded or loud. Sunset Hill Park, thank you for being a shining example of the beauty found in Valparaiso...
Read moreGreat place. Wide open. Miles of trails to walk or run even during a pandemic. Social distance. Lots of places to have a picnic. When safe again, great place place for an outdoor concert (after the pandemic) on the hillside where you can bring a blanket, listen to music and see a sunset. When the weather is nice if you play the guitar .. you could have your own open space to play for your spouse and/or family. Oh ... good news there is an out garden size train layout. The local garden train club has a display at Sunset Hill county park (used to be at the previous Samuelson Nursey over on Route 2 east of town .. then the nursery closed). Train layout ++ Families, children, train enthusiasts will love it. During pandemic times be safe, go for a walk, go to these lovely parks to enjoy peace of mind and...

We took our then 1 year old grandson last year to the Christmas lights and he was in awe. I can't wait to take him this year now that...
