Love Love Love this place! It's so peaceful. We picked a campsite that (if all camps was filled) wouldn't be close to many campers. We had the creek right beside our campsite which was so nice to go to sleep and wake to. Every group of campsites had a playground. So the little kids could play at camp while the big kids went visiting the other areas. Blue river is on the side where the RVs are and the kids went down there to play in the water. It was shallow in areas and deeper in others which made it perfect. It rained the 1st couple days we were there but that part of the river doesn't have rusing water even though it did get deeper for a little bit. The shelter houses are very nice with fans, and lights. They have 2 shower houses are separate parts of the park and bathrooms close to shelter houses. They also have a play area specific for toddlers so they can play away from big kids and play buildings. 1 is the playhouse which has a Raggedy Ann theme, a school house for kids to play in and a Town Hall for Adults to hangout it (kids are allowed supervised). They also have 2 other buildings being worked on at the moment. Also on the property they have a small petting zoo. The animals come up to the fence and love getting attention. While there you will most likely come across a long haired stay cat who my daughter's named "Teddy". He loves attention and mostly friendly but at moment he doesn't like having his right ear messed with. Other then that, he is really great. The staff was real nice and takes their job in making Sycamore Springs a happy and safe place for families to come and enjoy nature. Because of how this place is ran, I was ok with my older kids running around knowing I didn't have to worry about somebody hurting them. Never felt safe doing at other parks where people would do anything and the workers didn't care. To make it better, it's so much cheaper then other places. The Best Park I have...
Read moreIt's an RV/Tent/Cabin campground. There is are a wide assortment of areas keeping most of the RVs separated from the tent camping. Pay attention to the map when you are looking at spots to book. There's some that have almost no shade and others that are well shaded. Most of the tent area is well shaded. 136-141 are only shaded in the early morning so Some campers pull through backwards or back in to face their doors to the east (towards the cabins on the hill), unfortunately if you center on the lot that means you're facing the power pole and sewer connection so you're going to want to be offset to one end of the other. 50 amp hookup also means 30 amps and 15/20 amp so there's lots of power connections. Water pressure is good and water smells good. There truly are lots of playground areas for the kids and a small "village" to roam. Lots of trails to walk and paths to take and explore. Piles of firewood all around the park near your fire pits to grab what you like and burn. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Pickup after your pet and dispose of properly. While walking around there were many piles left by dogs that the owner blatantly ignored the parts request to clean up after your pet. Also keep them on a leash, one morning we opened our camper door and hit someone else's dog with our door, other times the dog just roamed near our camper. Overall a good campground and one I won't mind...
Read moreGive this campground a try. I was skeptical of all the good reviews but there is so much this park does right. There are 21 playground areas here. I was told the plan was for the parents to be able to watch their children from their campsite! Brilliant! There is so much to discover, so many well maintained and decorated areas to explore. It helps also that it is very close to cave country canoes or marengo cave or the French Lick area or the patoka lake area that you could easily make this a base camp. There are only a couple (I think) shower houses and they appear to be closer for the primitive camping areas but I checked one out and it was very clean. That may be one of the few downsides is the lack of shower houses. The camping areas are spread out so getting to a shower house might be a walk. I’m sure the plan is for the campers to use their own and the tent people can use the provided shower. Also, I wanted to mention that the road from the north which is the recommended entrance is a nice paved road. It appears on street view to be gravel, it is not. It is paved and not far out of the way. I came midweek which probably aided in the quiet relaxed feel because I bet it gets crowded on the weekend. I live an hour away and will return hopefully with grandkids. I was very hesitant on this park but my wife has said that it is now one of...
