Been going to Rancho Seco for the last 13 years; I sure do miss the fishing derby; hopefully, this pandemic goes away, and we can get back to living and doing the things that we like to do and enjoy, as far as Rancho Seco for camping and fishing site's the park is peaceful and well maintained. The people that visit there are friendly, management could use improvement on keeping things consistent with rules and regulations that is the only problem I have out there is that they keep changing the rules and theses rules do not make sense; if you can't touch the water after 6 PM , that is unfortunately, thank God that we have our eyesight that they can't tell is not to look at the water. Still, you can not put your foot in the water, or your finger; sometimes, the rules are excessively over the top. But you have to pick and choose your battles with the management; hopefully, the new direction came in under new management and cleared everything up, and it's a peaceful place again; there's no reason for anybody not to enjoy the beauty as long as we practice commonsense, and be respectful; there is no reason not to be able to fish on the water until sunset, but and I recommend everybody take time and see Rancho Seco for the park's...
Read moreI thought the bad reviews about the older white lady on the golf cart were just left from a bitter angry family but no they’re true. She’s so rude! We had never been here before and decided to swim and fish. Apon entry we paid the day use fee and went about our day. We were later asked (by the older white lady/man with short white hair) to show our fishing bracelet. We had fishing licenses but knew nothing about needing a fishing bracelet. we were never asked about fishing, Had we known we would have paid the fee just like we paid the day use fee, it’s $5. She rudely said she’s notifying the front and we’d better pay the fee on the way out. She said we get asked at the front before entry if we are fishing. We weren’t ever asked. Yell at your employees for not doing their job instead of grilling your paying customers. How am I supposed to pay a fee I don’t know about? if a worker doesn’t notify, ask, or charge me for it? Left immediately. First time here and won’t be back because of her. Rather go to don Pedro :) they’re very nice. Listen to the reviews and if you don’t.. steer clear of this woman, seems like she will find any reason to give...
Read moreI like that the park is well maintained not too off the beaten path and reasonably priced for day use with or without a boat or kyak. Great place for a last minute day trip or special occasion with friends and family. You could even camp here if you have a trailer or tent. Nice beach area, store for essentials, kyak rentals etc... Personal watercraft is allowed but no gas motors. Electric trolling motors are ok. The bass fishing is really good with a lot of quality fish in the lake if you're into bass fishing. As far as trout go I call b/s on the trout reports that come out for this lake. A friend and my self have been taking note of when the report comes out that they've planted the lake and say the fishing is excellent, we've found that not to be the case. They may plant the lake but the reports are inaccurate I'm sure there are a few have good days here but. We've spent a number of days trolling and bank fishing after these "excellent" reports come out and found the fishing to be terrible all around the lake. Got it figured out for bass but the trout just aren't as plentiful I guess. I think if the reports held up I would have given...
