This place was our first stay in an RV. It was set perfectly right next to the mighty Mississippi. I'm giving this four stars because it provided everything it said it would. The staff was very friendly, especially for us as first timers. The views were awesome, very family oriented, pet friendly, and the other visitors were all very nice. We even helped the rangers find owners of a couple missing dogs. The only negative about this location is the train tracks 40 yards away. The trains that go through there LOVE to test out their horns. They go through at Midnight, 5:30 in the morning, all day, all evening. Read moreAgain, this is another Core Of Engineer's hidden gem. Right on the Mississippi River with a viewing or perhaps fishing platform. The sites are well shaded and mostly covered with trimmed grass. For tenters, there is potable water but only vault toilets. Our stie had electricity but the 110 volt outlet appeared to be fake with the entry holes for the prongs seemingly blocked by metal. The only real drawback is its closeness to the railroad tracks. Read moreIt would be a 5 star but. It is a Corp of Engineers campground and the facility is 5 star. Paved roads and well laid out sites.
The but is noise. The trains are bad enough but the other campers the night we were there were just as bad. One camper was playing loud music until midnight. Others had a bazillion lights on. They brought the city to a campground. While they may have had a good time, for those of looking for a respite from city life, not so much.
