Horns Ferry Bridge is a great place to spend an afternoon. It overlooks a pretty populated nesting site for Bald Eagles on the Des Moines River and is located next to Howell Station Campground. There are walking/hiking trails and a playground for children nearby. We watched the Eagles and pelicans in the morning and had a picnic lunch and fished in the afternoon. ...
Read moreThis is a great place for bird watching. The woodland across the river from the bridge (west river bank) is the Gladys Black Bald Eagle Refuge. According to the signage it is "Iowa's most historic and well-known interior wintering site for bald eagles."
