Island View Park — Attraction in Iowa

Great, clean space with room on either side of the beach to beach skis or boats and grill or have a shore camp, pick up tubers, etc. Good fishing if you stray off the main beach area. Easy and efficient boat dock with a cove off to the side to 'park' your watercraft while you park your truck. Pay for the parking or risk a huge ticket, even for beach only. They actually check unlike most state facilities we're accustomed to, and witnessed 1 group who'd been warned the previous day at the beach get a $105 dollar ticket. Play...

This park is well done for the novice camper. It is clean, quite and well maintained. There are shower houses all over and electrical at the camp sites. The lake is clean and great for swimming and boating. The fishing is excellent with a variety of fish. It was very hot when we were here. The only issues we had were with the shower houses. The water was really hot. We talked to the corps of engineers and they turn the temperature in the showers down....

We camped at Island View in August 2020. It's a pleasant but older campground. The sites are gravel & only somewhat level. The picnic tables are ancient but still usable. I recommend a plastic tablecloth. The restrooms are adequate & kept clean. One problem we encountered upon entering was the lack of signs directing arrivals to the proper section & no one was in the booth to ask for help. We drove around for 30 min before we found our...
