Beautiful grounds and beautiful hiking area. Even found myself a great hiking stick! It was beautifully carved and someone it appears left it for the next hiker so I took it with me and it’s all the way back in New Hampshire! The locals were swimming in the waterfall area, although the water did smell a little bit, but at least it was relaxing them and cooling them off. Pretty rustic and scenic grounds and you could only imagine this is pretty much how it looked like 150 or 200 years ago! Had a great opportunity to fly my drone around and get some great aerial pictures of the bridge as well as the old Crystal mill and some of the kids also swimming in the water and a few people even fishing! Just beautiful....
Read moreThis is a wonderfully preserved old mill that still has many of it's original tools and features on display. We've been to several old mills, but none with as much of the mill processing tools still intact.
Additionally there was an engagement area where kids and adults alike could process the corn using old tools which was really neat to do in the setting of the old mill!
If you're an animal lover, there are also a couple of windows with shudders closed that are home to little brown bats. One of the windows downstairs you can walk right by and see the bats through the glass. A highlight of the trip!
The scenery around the mill is also very nice with an old bridge across the creek and a nice walking path...
Read moreIt is not often that you get a chance to visit a real old fashion grist mill, one that is not a reproduction. This is the 'real McCoy' if you will.
The waterfall out back is relaxing, and the sound invites one to close their eyes for a quick nap.
Check out the old school house and the trails that abound in the park. There is something here for everyone.
Plenty of parking was available the day we went. Bring a picnic lunch and make a day of it. We certainly enjoy the staff that was on hand to answer our questions...
