It’s an okay park, we had a good time however do not book site 13, campground was 16$ per night and 4$ extra to book online, when we got there, the campsites were very close to eachother, a lot of junky campers that seem to be parked there forever. Also restroom facilities had no soap and 1 roll of paper for 2 stalls. Small area, and we had a light pole on our lot that comes on right at sunset and is on all night!!, literally the center of attention with a spot light above our bonfire pit, these pictures we’re at 10pm, couldn’t enjoy a fire, couldn’t leave stuff out with fear of getting stolen in plain sight, 2 restless nights of sleep because your camper glows. Very disappointed with the campground and the way it was handled, they told us there was nothing they could do, the light stays on and has to be on per regulations, I’m sorry a spot light should have never been placed over anyones fire pit, definitely should be disclosed on the site about lack of privacy for site 13. And surrounding sites that it glows on, No refund was given and was told on Friday night that his boss will be out to talk to us about situation, never even seen the boss. I told DNR if I would have known this was the site I would have never reserved online, this was our first time out to camp and probably last. The rest of the park was beautiful just not...
Read moreLike many state parks, they have the day use areas and the campground area. They day use is very nice. The shelters and restroom facilities are modern and clean. It's a great place for a picnic, hike, or playing in the stream. The campground, however, could use major renovation. The campsites have electricity and fire rings, but they are on the wrong side of your camper. They restroom/shower house is the worst I have seen. It was very dirty and not well maintained. Also, it is not handicapped accessible. This might lead you to use your rv facilities. But beware, there is not a dump station on-site. We ended up stopping at the Amana Colony RV park and paying to dump there. ($5 well spent!) We didn't use the golf course, but it seemed to be busy the entire time we were there, so it might be worth checking out. So, I'd recommend the day use areas, but unless you're looking for primitive camping (and I know some people are), I would not recommend the campground. It could be a much nicer campground but needs...
Read moreOverall it's a Nice park to visit. Plenty of places to stop and relax for a while. Great place for family picnics, fishing or just to get out of the house. The scenery is good. There are walking trails but it seems more foot traffic is happening on road. There are a couple caves you can explore as well. There is a playground for the children and also an Upside Down Bridge in the same area. The UDB is a favorite among kids and even adults. The playground is fun, But on a hot sunny day I don't recommend taking your child to play on it. The pure black rubber tiles used for the ground surface and the actual play equipment will be very hot and will easily burn your child. I found out the hard way(first time parent, won't happen again). Sometimes the lower road is closed due to high river levels. The lower road was closed 3 days ago and I'm not sure what...
