We got here around 2pm. The road after the paved road is filled with potholes. We drove our Kia slowly and carefully and were fine. Once we got on the beach, we had the option to go left which was a longer stretch of beach or stay right. There were a few party boats on the left stretch, we chose to stay right. This beach has beautiful golden brown granular sand. The waves are calm. There is a current to watch out for only because it takes the swimmers diagonally out to sea. Swimming East from the man made wall is relatively easy, getting back takes more effort This beach has some biting flies and boy can they bite. Lots of beautiful sea life to observe and enjoy. They tend to hang out where the roots dip in the ocean. I saw schools of fishes, and sting rays As with all the beaches we practiced carry in carry out. There isn’t much seaweed washing ashore here and comparatively the water is cooler than the south beaches, but like all the beaches we visited, it is just as beautiful On our way back we stopped by the info center on the right, which is a covered stop area with info about the area posted. It has a little walkway. We got to see the lagoon under a full moon. It’s...

Really amazing beach for snorkeling. You probably won't be able to make it here unless you have a jeep or a book a tour to get there by boat but if you're going to Vieques and giving yourself a few days to really explore it, I don't think you should be renting anything other than four-wheel-drive anyway.

We stopped and looked at some of the creepy bunkers on the way there and definitely got a bit lost since it's very off the beaten path. However, if you can find your way there, it's a secluded paradise. You can't see any development at all, and the beach is pretty clear of washed up seagrass unlike a good amount of the other islands in Vieques. The self guided snorkeling we did was better than the diving trip we took as well to be honest. Saw a ton of loggerhead turtles, stingray, and even a nurse shark. Even without the snorkeling, it's a great beach to hang at. Definitely has its own flavor with all of the abandoned US navy infrastructure surrounding you.

This and La Chiva are two of the best on the island...

4 stars because of the gnats

We got there around 11am. The Jeep ride was bumpy to say the least. I wouldn't even try a golf cart (or Kia) this far. We brought a cooler and snacks and planned to go all day and stay for the sunset. It was absolutely gorgeous until 5 pm when we got swarmed by gnats. There were horse flies all day but they weren't terrible. We had the beach basically to ourselves the entire afternoon. Bring your snorkel gear!!!! Rent it from your host; it'll be worth it. Around 5pm we got swarmed by gnats. They hit us on land and in the water, and they hurt. We packed up the jeep while getting bit and left. I don't know if it was normal or a fluke, but we didn't make to sunset because of the gnats. Otherwise, it was...

This beach was recommended to me by several people for seeing turtles. As it is on the western tip, I decided to visit for sunset. The road to get here was extremely challenging with many large potholes. I would not recommend it with a normal car. We had a Kia Soul that bottomed out several times. In addition, once we finally got there and got on the beach, I was completely assaulted by some insects. We stayed long enough to get some pictures but then left as quickly as possible. I wish I had gotten the chance to try snorkeling or diving here, but definitely wouldn't go back without a jeep and a plan to get in the water quickly! :-)

Quite an adventure to get here. We managed to make it out on a golf kart, by going extremely slowly and driving carefully, so it took a long time to get there (~2.5 hrs). But the beach is incredible for swimming and snorkeling! Clear and calm water. Only a handful of people around. Tons of conch shells, coconuts, hermit crabs, and palms for shade. Unfortunaly, also tons of biting sand flies, so we rarely left the water. Access is up past the left side of the fenced electrical zone.
