If you stay left at the first fork, the trail goes on for a bit without much elevation gain. It's a good warm up for trek up the rest of the trail to the top which gets steeper and great for exercise. The entire hike is surrounded by trees. There isn't much for views but it at least keeps you shaded so if you're going on a hot day, it won't be so bad. On the way back down the trail is a little narrow in some areas but not bad. Overall a pretty good morning hike if you're just looking to take a stroll through the woods. It also connects to several other trails if you want to go much deeper.

I was happy somebody left some sticks by the trailhead. The trails were maintained. There were some muddy spots, and you definitely need to watch your footing in some areas. The Doughty Falls were beautiful.

PARKING: If you are trying to find a place to park because you've realized the street by the trailhead has no parking, go back down to Licorice Fern Trail Crossing and park at the trailhead there. That trail is about eight tenths of a mile and will meet up with Cougar Mountain Indian Trail. When you get to the top and see a bench, cross the road and there is a trail to the left. Follow that and it will lead to the trail you actually wanted to hike. Both hikes are absolutely stunning and well worth a visit. The parking situation sucks, but don't let it...

You're not allowed to park on the public road here, I suppose because wealthy people have complained. This has effectively turned it into their own private trailhead. Can't review the actual trail because I...
