If ever you find yourself wanting to take a ring and chuck it into a volcano... This ain't it. But it's pretty close in terms of self reflection. Started early around 5am, and finished the entire trip by 10:20am. 7 miles according the information posted, but feels like 10. Couple of false peaks will make you wonder why you even bother, but the top view is most definitely worth it. I will say this, the path has been recently worked on. However, there are still a lot of overgrown plants/ grass at the top. Also, the stairs are... Starting to feel like Mt. Doom. Couple of them are starting to break due to rust. All in all, I've enjoyed this hike. And it's definitely put a new perspective on my fitness. I doubt I'll be able to run across Middle-Earth, let alone walk the distance of Gondor. But I can do this 7 mile (feels like 10) hike!!! Will go again!!... And...

What an amazing hike in American Samoa National Park. The trail starts at Fagasā Pass a short hike from Pago Pago. Since this is our first time in Samoa we took a cab and arranged to be picked up in four and a half hours. The trail is along an old road bed with a lot of ups and downs. There are mud puddles so ware some shoes you don't mind getting dirty. We saw lots of flowers and a White Rumped Swiftlet. There is a informational sign describing what it is. Be careful climbing the stairs and bring lots of water..... Enjoy the views...

It was a good trail, very wide. Hiked on Nov 19th, 2017. It was around 85* F and 90% humidity. It was hot, so bring at least 3 liters of water if you plan to hike. The trail was muddy and slippery because it rained the night before. BTW, Nov and Dec were the rainy months, so be prepared to get wet. It took me 1hr 25 min to get to the top, about 3.7...

If you're gonna climb matafau be prepared for overgrown, steep climb and the top is very exposed. Bring lots of water and take your time. No views until you reach the top but the jungle hike is fun
