The park and town was so nice and clean, the food was great. The only problem we had is when we went to go take pictures of the wind turbines I guess a local resident was not happy that we were taking pictures and harassed us following us up and down the same road and then my husband pulled over to ask him why he said as following us. The guy said he wanted to know what we were doing. My husband told him we were talking pictures of the wind turbines. And guy told us he owned the property on both sides of the street. My husband told him well you don't own the street all we were doing was taking pictures and he wasn't just talking to her she was yelling at us harassing us. My husband told him just to forget it and go on and leave us alone. The guy didn't say anything the else, he drove off so we were behind him. But he saw that we turned in at the State Park. I was worried all night because the state park there's no security gate. Anyone can go in and out, so I worried about that guy coming back at night...
Read moreCamped here on a Saturday night and had an overall pleasant experience. The park and lake make a fantastic little getaway from DFW. We stayed in the North section, site #9. The site itself was huge with plenty of space and water on site. All the other sites looked just as roomy. Our site had a table, trash hook, water, and a fire pit. The bathroom was decent and has firewood for sale next to it. There are 4 kayaks for rent from a self-service kiosk with a launch site nearby. All the staff we encountered were super friendly and welcoming (we're POC, so this is important for us)!! We'll definitely be coming back to swim the lake in the summer!
A few negatives but not deal breakers: -Fire pit was full of ash -no running water inside bathroom but there is a spigot right outside and at each site -the park is a bit noisy-we heard planes(airport nearby) and cars throughout the night -fishing pier near the sites was closed.
*I included pictures of our site, North #9, and one of another site we...
Read moreCamped in North Park to bring in the New Year 🎆 This part of the park is 3 miles from the State Park for tent camping only on the reservoir!
Site #1 is where we camped and it’s the best lake view of all the sites. Super spacious with beautiful views of the lake and big trees.
The site did have water, trash pole, fire pit and an electricity outlet, but the power wasn’t working. We have solar powered equipment for lighting anyways so that was fine. Trash bins near every site which was very convenient. Bathrooms in walking distance from our site along with firewood to purchase as well with card.
We enjoyed our stay very much and can’t wait to come back in the spring for some kayaking, more hiking and...
