I took my family of four to this farm today. I paid ten dollars each as I expected. We went in and there are advertised costume parades. We waited and waited for this , they kept telling us, and the others in a minute and it will be in this specific area. Then someone else would tell us and the other parents it was in another place, then it was delayed for a pig race, then they gathered all the kids in the hot sun and it was another 15 min wait. I will make a long story short on that, it was unorganized. I was told by three different people they were "short " today so several things were closed. We found the several small barns closed. These barns were suppose to show the kids how the farm works according to the website. The slide was closed on and off during the day. I was told they didn't have anyone to stand up there and watch the slide. I heard several people talk about not knowing when the little trains would run. Then I the thing I got very frustrated with was the jump pillow. Keep in mind we paid forty dollars to get in, bought food for two dollars, then had to have tokens we purchased at one dollar each to do what they call the extra things like ride the trains and shoot a pumpkin, and I will get into the pumpkins in a minute. I will get back to the jump pillow now. My kids really liked the pillow. they jumped for two minutes with other children then were told they had to get off. My kids listened, came of the jump pillow and said they wanted to do that again. I said okay go back in . They went to the gate and were told they couldn't jump because they just got off. I mentioned to the guy there was NO line and NO other kids waiting to jump. He said it was just a rule they had to "go away and come back later." I again pointed out NOBODY else was there to jump, I had paid 40 bucks to be in there and now they can't do the thing they like. He said he just was not going to let them on right now so there it sat empty. Do not even know what to say about that! Then to top it all off we walked down to the pumpkin patch to get a pumpkin and where told we had to pay to ride the pumpkin train (2$ each) then pay for the pumpkins. I told the lady at the gate they had ridden the train and no one told them they couldn't walk back to get a pumpkin at the end of the day. I had to then walk up to the opposite side of the place, hunt down the boss lady and walk back down to tell the other lady at the gate we could get a pumpkin the come back to the store and tell the lady at the register what happened and who had said what because the staff refused to relay to each other cause they were short. The price of going sure wasn't short. We will go back to Shirley Farms in Obion...
Read moreAfter the terrible weather we had over the weekend, my 3 children were very excited to meet their homeschool co-op friends for this rescheduled field trip. After driving for an hour we arrived 15min early as did many others in our group, only to be told our field trip wasn't today but another day. Our director arrived 10min before the 9am start time. They had email proof that Donnell Century Farms field trip coordinator had in fact told us to come today. After that we were told it would be a few minutes before we could come in bc they were short staffed. When we finally got in some of us paid way more than we were told in the brochure before our director realized and asked questions about it. They then ask if we want a presentation aka educational field trip or what. By this time our group of 20+ children are getting very restless after all they've been standing looking at things through a gate for an hr now. Our director says its fine just let the kids play. When we ask about food they keep saying they're working on it. Finally we are told all food on menu is available yet when I got to the counter I find out that no burgers are available and wouldn't be made at all. 1 of my children doesn't eat chicken or pork. The animals were in mud that covered their hoofs. While I do understand the weather I don't understand why they didn't have hay or something dry in their spaces. Then when we asked about the corn maze or pumpkin patch we are told we can't do those things bc of mud and we could get a pumpkin from the front when we were leaving. At this point as a group we decided to just leave. As we are leaving I tell my children they can get pumpkins. Farm employees watch us all pick a pumpkin and start to head out. We are stopped and told we can't have those and only children are allowed to get the tiny pumpkins. By this point I've a crying 2yo bc they now have to put the pumpkin back. I'm told I can pay additional money to get the pumpkins we picked out. And then as my child is crying their eyes out im given a lecture on how they weren't able to grow pumpkins this year and had to buy these. The entire experience was very disappointing and expensive for what we were actually able to do. I definitely could've taken the kids to a nice playground and lunch then got a pumpkin from Walmart on the way home much cheaper. They probably would've had more...
Read moreWe visited yesterday and I'm not quite sure where to even begin. I drove 2 hours to be there with our group and the owner claimed they hadn't planned on opening and weren't staffed to open. After waiting about an hour to get things going several of us were over charged. I had to go back through the line and when I got to the register I was told that I was only overcharged a dollar. I had to explain the math then stand there as the guy got his phone calculator out and realized I was right and was charged 17 dollars and some change per person instead of 10. I was issued a partial refund. We proceeded onto the property only for the kids to have access to what was essentially a glorified playground. They weren't allowed to do the corn maze, nor pick their own pumpkins. Their reason being mud. (We didn't care about mud) Speaking of mud, the animals there were kept in it with no access to straw or fresh grass. At one point, the owner's son came over to my kids and I and said, "women say our donuts are better than sex." That's such a weird thing to say to/in front of a group of kids!!!! He followed up with, "the men never say that but the women always do." The food was decent but very expensive. At the end of our trip the kids were told they could take a pumpkin from up front, but while up there we got a lecture on how they had to buy pumpkins this year so we had to take small ones which was disappointing.
All-in-all this place seems to have potential but the people running it are extremely unorganized and unprofessional. If you look back at some of the replies to reviews you can see that for yourself without wasting the...
