The Tetons were everything you might imagine. Majestic, mesmerizing, dramatic, and angelic. Expect a lot of visitors to this area and be ready to stand in line regardless of a pandemic. People should up with friends, family, and pets. Nothing was getting in their way when it came to good food, fine dining, and breathtaking views. RVs owned the roads, families gathered in crowds for photo opportunities, and while I patiently waited I took in a few pictures myself. I would strongly suggest you pack a picnic, bring a blanket and a bottle of your favorite wines, and have lunch in one of the many parks. The lake was beautiful, the trees were changing color, and the mountains adorned the landscape making for the perfect backdrop. I’d suggest backpacking, kayaking, or a horseback trip. Read moreFrom this viewpoint, there is a usually great view of the Teton Range unobstructed by anything except clouds. It's a big view over the Snake River Valley of glaciers on the highest peaks. Lower down, nearer the river is a mixed forest belt sheltering the river and providing cover for the occasional grazing moose or elk. It’s in the outer road of the national park, which makes it free. A long the round there more turn points with more views of the glacier.
I personally recommend paying the $35 and seeing the closer, it’s a breathing taking view! Stop by the visitor center before going. Lots of cool stuff to see there plus restrooms break if needed.
