Staff is friendly and helpful. There is a $4 day use fee for guests. They have plenty of firewood for sale. When we went there was not many people. The park staff are attentive and helpful. They dont want you to wait to report issues for noise or other problems. They have staff on site. There is lots of shade and tall trees everywhere. There are no sunny sites because of all the trees but that should not be an issue. Being in the valley means no real wind either. The stream is right next to the grounds and a short walk to playground and hiking trails. You can walk up to the dam or you can walk along the water. Most sites were not right next to the water but close. There are many sites that have additional enclosures as part of the site. There is no real place to wash dishes as they dont want them in the restrooms and I didnt see additional areas to do it. The restrooms were clean but when the weather turns cold be prepared to be cold as there are only screens in the restrooms and that's a pretty cold shower. Showers are paid as well which I would expect in many state parks which helps to keep the restrooms clean and cover water...

We spent 2 nights here during an RV trip in July. There are no hook ups available at the site but there is a dump station. A nice variety of camping spots available and it was very quiet. A really beautiful area. From the campgrounds there is very easy access to Salmon Hole, a great swimming hole along the river. I would recommend riding bikes on the path along the river to the trailhead leading to Hamilton Falls. Its a good hike to walk it all the way with kids. The people who knew better rode their bikes. The hike to the Falls is a moderate climb. The waterfall was beautiful. We had it to ourselves for about 20 minutes and waded in the lower pools. Do not attempt to climb the falls. The rocks are very slippery. I would return here again. There were other trails to be explored. FYI. We had no cell service there and neither did other campers we spoke to. We had to drive into the little area of Jamaica to get a signal. No biggie except when you want to check weather. The little grocer in Jamaica was great for grabbing a coffee and picking...

We camped here for the Juneteenth holiday, so a little busy the first day, but then quieted down. With no hook ups for RVs and no internet service, you really cut down on louder groups. There is wifi at the gatehouse, so you can look up anything you need. They also sell wood, fire starters (campground lore is they are made by Yankee Candle), and ice. There is also a friendly general store just outside the park. What we really loved about it was that it was perfect for camping with a toddler. We intentionally chose site #20 because it had a big rock to climb on and she loved it. The West River trail is flat and wide for shared use. The playground and swimming area were also great for kids. We did all the hikes (Overlook, Ball Mountain Damn, Hamilton Falls) in our two nights there. Also of note - the campground staff were all insanely friendly and helpful. Listen to them when they warn you about the...

My wife and I recently visited this location and it was perhaps my favorite stop on our entire New England vacation. We visited in October and it was quiet and serene. I sat by the river for an hour and a half just watching the water sparkle and listening to the peace. I loved that I can get out and sit in a chair and smell pine and not hear any noise other than the nature. My wife hiked a beautiful trail and really enjoyed it. There are plenty of places to sit and enjoy meals as an individual or as a family.

Hiked from the parking lot to Hamilton falls..it was the day after a big rainstorm so the falls were quite impressive! The falls are much bigger and more splendid than the pictures make it seem. On the way back from Hamilton falls I went to the overlook trail...which will lead you back to the campground. The overlook doesn't add much to your overall distance and it's well worth it if you have some up and down left in your legs. All of the trails were well marked and easy to follow.
