Dad has made this project his life’s work and will gladly share it with anyone who comes by. You will be greeted by colorful ribbons paying homage to the Iroquios and/or possibly Delaware tribes who had a village here or nearby back before European pioneers settled here. At this point, The Cross on The Hill is practically an outdoor church with seating, stations of the cross, a memorial area, brick walkway. Few parking spots are available. Take extra care if you park along the road. And keep an eye out for wildlife like elk, white tailed deer, beer. Healing services, masses, weddings are being held in this breath taking spot. No admission charged and you won’t even find a donation box. This is his labor of love. Be sure to sign his “nosey “ book to say hello and where you are traveling from as he enjoys knowing:) Prayer request book available too. Those wishing to contribute to upkeep and the goal of acquiring a bit more land for the parking can leave contact info in one of the notebooks on site. The state plans to pave the road to the Cross in 2019. It is a beautiful spot to enjoy the Pennsylvania hillside in every season, finding your own sanctuary here. All seekers are welcomed...
Read moreVery Very Disappointed! I lost a dear friend a few years back. He had 2 children in school, one was autistic. I had taken his picture at the cross. The priest held the picture up during the funeral and talked about closure, and that this picture meant he went to heaven. I found out who the owner of the cross was and I went and talked to her. It was smaller than the other benches that were already there and not extravagant by any means. Then a year later, some church group comes in and digs the place up...starts building sidewalks...and throws my stone bench over the hill! That's right! They dug up my bench with my friends name on it and dates of birth and death and threw it over the hill. What kind of church group throws a memorial over the hill? I needed several men retrieve the bench....
Read moreWhile visiting Weedville, PA during Our Vacation, I went searching for a place We could visit that would be peaceful and a place to reflect. I found Cross on the Hill. This was a very small place nestled on a hill top. It wasn't a busy place, it was what I was looking for. As We pulled in to the small parking lot, one family was leaving. As We walled the path, We noticed the names on the path stones and realized that those that placed the stones wanted to honor those that had gone home. Walking up to Cross that was set with a beautiful backdrop of the Hills and Valley below was spectacular. It gave to You opportunity to take in the magnificence of the Cross and the creation HE had made...
