We did the fluffy cow experience. We had a blast! It was my wife and I having a birthday trip to celebrate her 30th. We learned about the history of the farm and learned facts about highland cows.
Our guide Tim told us the names of each of the very beautiful and well behaved cows and the one bull. He also gave us a little bit of their history and personality too.
Interacting with the cows was amazing. You really get to see their personalities come out when they know there are treats. We were inside the corral with three of the ladies (Trixie, Blondie, Ginger) and most of the rest surrounded us knowing scratches and treats were coming. We had a bucket full treats and two brushes and we had our pick of the herd. They were all very sweet and gentle. My favorite was Trixie and my wife Cherish loved the little baby Henri.
We stayed in Barndo 2A North. Parking was perfect and brought us right next to the room. We were blown away with how much room there was. We walked into a hallway with a living room and open kitchen. There's a very comfortable hanging chair perfect for looking out the windows. Large television on the wall. Touch controls for the kitchen lighting and heat. Spacious bathroom with a great shower (no tub). Spacious bedroom with plenty of outlets. Comfortable bed too! Soft pillows and a television on the wall.
Outside is a patio set with to individual seats and a little love seat and table. There's a beautiful view of the lake, pastures, other barndos, rolling hills, and a great sun set. We also had access to a coop with chicken and ducks eggs for us to cook for breakfast. The kitchen was amazing and had everything we needed. We're only about 30 minutes from Knoxville too, so there's a large city for dinner if that's the option you want.
Overall this place is amazing and we will definitely be doing this again. I want to bring my friends back here for a...
Read moreWe stayed at the Milk Barn on the Cedar Pond Farm for a family, COVID friendly vacation and what an amazing vacation! From the design and flow of the Milk Barn itself to the breathtaking views of the grounds. Shawn, the host, could not have been more responsive, friendly or helpful. There was no shortage of activities for the kids. We initially planned to do multiple boating days on both Cherokee Reservoir and Douglas Lake, but the kids had so much fun on the farm that we only went boating one day. The property was boasting with photo opportunities with the beautiful views and well manicured grounds. If you are planning to have a wedding here, you will be forever happy with the photo memories of a lifetime. We had 8 guests staying on the property with plenty of space for everyone and the kids had so many options for sleeping each night. Plenty of space indoors to relax and watch TV or play in the game room, but we could not keep ourselves from being outside as much as possible. We loved hiking the grounds, playing with the chickens and feeding the animals everyday. The farm fresh eggs were the highlight of the trip for the kids. Watching the cattle roam on the hillside while fishing on the lake was one of my personal favorite activities. The kids enjoyed swimming in the pond and fishing. There were multiple grills for a great cookout and the market was only minutes away. We definitely had to stop by the Gelato Brothers on our trips to the store for some delicious one of a kind gelato. I could continue raving about our fantastic vacation, but long story short - Amazing, fun filled, relaxing, MUST DO vacation. We will definitely be returning soon. Our 4 year old cried when we had to leave and asked Shawn several times if we could...
