This is one lake I truly loved and I have been to many. The park was clean and well kept. The views were just gorgeous. The water had an emerald tint to it. I felt I was in Florida there for a minute. Lots of places to walk, clean bathrooms, swimming area, picnic tables all through the park, pets are allowed but in certain areas. Lots of great swimming holes if you want privacy, and its free!

Great place to get in some exercise while taking in the beautiful views. They have a boat launch opened to the public with a small campground. Public toilets and pavilions require a permit to rent. They have a beautiful walkway on the damm with a great set of stairs with about 100 steps to the top. I love exercising here and taking in the scenery

The lake and the park were beautiful as they always are. I was extremely disappointed, however, to find that all of the restrooms in the entrance facility were out of order, this after I had to use the accessible entrance to try to get to the restroom. Fortunately there were some Porta Johns available, but I believe that it is right that we should be able to use ordinary restrooms, especially disabled person in a public park like this. I found a drinking fountain along a trail leading to the top of a hill near the lake, and I wanted to stop and use that drinking fountain because I had taken a very long walk, and the drinking fountain was out of order. Our tax dollars are funding these facilities. Historically, TVA parks and they use facilities are the dividend for local people after a great deal many people have their lands and homes confiscated all those years ago for the building of our massive system of dams and power grid to supply power to this valley.

I do not believe that it is an unreasonable request for the parks and day use facilities related to and connected to these dams to be reasonably maintained.

We will continue to visit Cherokee Lake. East Tennessee is our home. I hope thay next time perhaps we find some evidence that the facilities are better kept up.

And to fellow locals: We are fortunate to have these parks in our area. There are many people in our country that are not nearly so fortunate to have such beautiful places to go to to swim, fish, stroll, and enjoy our beautiful surroundings here. We should all do our part to help take care of the facilities by cleaning up after ourselves and simply not being so hard on the picnic tables, grills, restroom facilities and other...

I've passed by here before but never stopped, always going here or there. Today I purposely came to check it out. What a lovely little park!!! We walked over the dam admiring the lake views and the mountains in the distance. Alot of people were out on this beautiful spring day! I will be back for sure. I noticed the overhead lights all along the dam so maybe on those hot days I'll wait till dusk and make my way...

I hadn't been here in a long time even though I only live a few miles away. I'm disabled and wanted to see if I could find a good fishing spot. The women parking next to me and shooting up openly in their car ruined the visit. The loud music and cruising illegal aliens didn't help either. Twra couldn't be bothered with my report but they sure didn't have a problem taking license money. This place should...
