We visited the Museum of Missouri Military History on a Saturday morning in June, right when it opened. There were only about 8 people there, so we had plenty of space to explore and take our time checking out the tanks, planes, and exhibits.
The museum is located on the Missouri national guard base, so once you cross the railroad tracks, just continue straight until you reach a booth. Let them know you’re there for the museum. They’ll check your driver’s license and wave you through.
There’s a lot to see packed into a smaller space: military uniforms, weapons, historical displays, and even a helicopter that flew in the Vietnam War, complete with patched bullet holes. We were able to go inside one of the tanks, which was really cool! The carrier plane wasn’t open because it was too hot. When it’s 90+ degrees, the inside becomes like an oven and it’s unsafe for people to go in. So if you want that part of the experience, try going on a cooler day.

The museum is somewhat small but makes up for that with personal stories of the Missouri soldiers from the militia to recent times.
We took a Boy Scout group of several hundred kids there as part of a trip to Jefferson City. The staff were very accommodating and provided very personal attention the whole time. They even extended the hours just for our group!

Despite the oddity for me, it was a very pleasant experience. Starting with the gaurd. He was absolutely wonderful and had some insight to the museum. After we entered, myself & my kids where blown away with the military vehicles they have on display. One of them you were able to walk into. A picture which I have posted! On the inside it is very well kept and the the displays where clean, easy to see through, had so much historical memories that left us in awe the whole time. We will...
