Schiller Woods — Attraction in Jefferson Township

Biggwd forest preserve in this area, besides Busse. Pond does have fish in it. Believe its still stocked 5 times a year. I've caught some decent sized catfish and bluegill there over the years. Only downside, it pis...es me off, I see a lot of people keeping anything they catch. Like 5 gallon buckes of small bluegill, bass, and cats. 1st, that really damages the fishery. Don't let anything grow old enough to spawn, and sustain the population of fish. 2nd, it's against the law. I'd like to put the fish back myself, stick the buckets on their heads, and kick them in the AS... Let them wander into the streets. Why not neuter them, treat them like they do nature. Stop their ability to breed more ignorant people. If you like fishing, why would you do anything affects the fish from growing, and the lake or pond sustainable. There's no room for greedy people in nature, let alone, the few rare places to fish in the area. And please, take your old fishing line with you, throw it out, anything.... Don't leave it on the shore, or in the water, to wrap around my dogs paws, or hurt the other animals roaming. What happened to common sense, and caring about the places you...

If you're looking for a great place to go to do a variety of different things in nature this is definitely a great place to do those things!! There's plenty of walking/biking trails! There's deer for days along with other creatures of various sizes and shapes!! Are you going to come across bears no. But you will definitely hear and see planes and you will definitely see deer!! If you don't hear or see either one of those things you might want to get your hearing and vision checked! As far as everything else goes there's nothing like this place! There's huge shelters that you can reserve and use for what ever party you might be throwing! If you are interested in reserving you would have to go to the Crook county forest preserve website but if there's a specific date you want to reserve you should probably do early in the year! Lovely forest but i dont understand why would you guys just dump a dead deer practically on the side of the road. These beautiful animals deserve better than this, the forest is their home and when they tragically get hit by cars (pretty often) instead of getting them help, you just wait until they die and dump them on the side on the grass? My poor son was so distraught after we saw the same dead deer for over 4 days just laying there.
