If you are looking for a place to have your wedding you need to look no further than Villa Antonio! Nestled on the sweetest private property in Hillsboro, Missouri it is beautiful at any point during the year. We were married the first weekend of January and it couldn’t have been more perfect! They offered to keep the Christmas decor up in the area we were having the ceremony and reception which we graciously accepted and had the light display outside up as well. The room had huge glass garage doors lined around three sides of the room which led to gorgeous views of the landscape outside because of the snow the night prior.
From start to finish our wedding coordinator, Ashley, was above and beyond phenomenal! She took care of every single detail and was extremely easy and kind to work with. She helped curate the perfect package that worked within our budget which honestly blew us away with how generous it was. Ashley also was extremely responsive to any questions I had. When I say that she went above and beyond that is exactly what I mean. Unfortunately she came down with a horrible bug the day before our rehearsal but still made sure she was there to execute our rehearsal (masked up and keeping her distance so no one became sick) and then showed up again for the day of with same safety procedures to ensure our ceremony ran smoothly.
After the ceremony the owner, Tom, stepped in and executed the rest of the evening for us flawlessly. It truly meant the world to us that the owner would care for us in such care and detail as he did. He checked in with us several times throughout the night to ensure we were doing well, checked in with our guests throughout the night as well as our vendors. We were very grateful for his kindness and for helping Ashley last minute due to unfortunate circumstances.
The wait staff and bartenders were excellent as well. They made a plate for both my husband and I and brought it to our table at the beginning of dinner service. They did a phenomenal job of taking care of all our guests through the night as well with the most pleasant attitudes and smiles on their faces. The food was also delicious!
As far as the venue itself, it was perfect! Our vision was really brought to life and we couldn’t have been happier! There is the sweetest cabin on the property that had a side for the bridal party and a side for the groom’s party to get ready and rest in prior to the ceremony. We felt very comfortable and loved how cute the rooms were. Because of it being a winter wedding we did have to do the ceremony and reception in the same room which meant people had to sit at their tables during the ceremony but it was still a great view with our attendance of 105 people.
The day was perfect and every detail leading up to it was perfect as well! We could not sing praises enough to match how we felt about our whole experience and the day of with Villa Antonio! Truly a first class establishment and experience! Thank you Ashley, Tom, and team for making it the absolute...
Read moreI'd like to take this opportunity to re-share an experience I lived at Villa Antonio a few years back that still angers me to this day.
My son and his fiancé put several thousand dollars down on a deposit for a wedding that was a year out. Within two weeks the wedding was called off. I returned to Villa Antonio with my son in hopes of recouping his deposit. The check hadn't even been cashed yet. We were directed to "the owner's son."
In short, his response was, the kids signed a contract and they would not provide a refund. I asked him to put himself in my shoes: A father of a kid who was just starting out in life. Funds were tight. It had only been a matter of days. The check hadn't even made it to the bank yet. The wedding was a YEAR out. He still refused to provide any refund and stood by the "they signed a contract."
Well, he was right, they had, so there wasn't anything I could do. He then told me that IF they re-sold the date, he would consider a refund. It wasn't much, but it was something.
A year later my son called and asked me to ride with him to Villa Antonio. He said he wanted to see if they had "sold the date." When we arrived I couldn't believe my eyes: There stood a Bride and Groom in front of a priest and a crowd. I was steaming.
We went inside and asked for "the owner's son." They wouldn't allow me to talk to him and instead directed me to "the girl who takes care of weddings." After explaining the situation, she looked me dead in the eyes and said "they hadn't sold the date." Thinking she misunderstood what I had said, I pointed out that TODAY was THE date. She again said they had not sold the date. I asked, "so the bride and groom standing in front of the priest and a crowd I passed on my way in was my imagination?"
I got NO WHERE. They absolutely refused to refund the kid any money. I get it, yes, the kids signed a contract, but how they handled the situation ruined it for me. I explained to them that my entire family had frequented their winery for years, and that after the way they handled this incident, we would NEVER return again, AND WE HAVEN'T....
Read moreA co-worker invited me to her birthday celebration. I had been to wineries in Hermann MO in the past so I was excited to go. She reserved an outside covered mini pavilion type area. The tables and chairs were not set up and had to be moved around and set up because they didn’t do that. Some of the tables had bird poop on them and we had to clean them off which was gross!!! She also purchased food and drinks for us all. The drinks were sitting in the sun which was not okay since they were all cold beers, wines, and sangria pitchers. So that also had to be moved under the covered area so it could stay cool. The sangria pitchers didn’t include any fruit and were watered down from sitting in the sun. The food was decent. The charcuterie board didn’t have any crackers. We called them and they admitted they forgot the crackers and they were supposed to bring them out to us. We waited 15-20 minutes and nobody bought out the crackers. So we went to go get the crackers and they ended up being stale. We also didn’t get any wine glasses for the wine and it just came with these clear plastic cups. So one of us asked about the wine glasses and a fee had to be paid to rent them so we paid it so we could have actual wine glasses to drink the wine. Having to rent wine glasses to drink wine at a winery is ridiculously asinine especially since a fee had already been paid to reserve the pavilion and purchase the wine and food. The staff was also not very nice to my friend who went to go get the wine glasses. Overall it wasn’t the best. As someone who has worked in restaurants for many years I...
