Warning this place is not for everyone . Only attend if you are of fair skin. This was location was a stop on our wine tour today . The tour was conducted with a great company with fantastic driver . Our group consisted of one couple from Houston and two three couples from Dallas . Upon reaching this venue wet we’re seated with waiter Malachi (pronounced Mal-a-Kai) . He introduced us to the menu poured our first taste. We continued to enjoy conversation amounts our group when the waiter came back . He asked what we thought of the first tasting , and it was positive . The Estate wine was great . We wanted to ask about the next tasting when he went on to say he can no longer serve us due to the right that TABC gives him to deny service to anyone he thinks “could be” intoxicated after he serves . At this point , we politely asked if he thought the rest of the tour group was also going to be denied service. His response was no, just us. A group of black and Latino friends . We walked outside and am the manager came out to speak to us . She said the whole establishment worked as a team. She confirmed we did not show any signs of inebriation. Yet she has to stand by her teammates . When we went on to express outrage at this , she went on to say “we have one black coworker, so this is not racist.” Like having a token black person makes you any less race biased. (supposedly black employee happen to be off that day) and then went on to threaten us with. “I will call the sherif.” She went back into the building . We ended up taking a Lyft to take us back to our hotel. When visiting Fredericksburg, avoid this location. Racist establishment. Edit: The establishment response was to continue to hide behind TABC rules they used to discriminate. Bottom line is , the waiter did not interact with us in any meaningful way to judge inebriation. In fact the conversations we were having at the table before we were asked to leave was about medical technology and it’s historical impact on society . What about the other four people that came on the same bus as us , he did not feel they were intoxicated. The manager herself admitted she didn’t think we were intoxicated but had to stand by her “team” . You have a racist employee that is abusing power . He didn’t like us to begin with , his first interaction as we asked about other wines was to say “I’ll serve you the tasting when I want to and ready to.” He couldn’t understand that we were asking to order premium wine bottles to take home. This location lost a lot of...
Read moreI typically have great experiences at wineries….I mean it is pretty hard to have a bad experience at one, unfortunately I experienced a horrific experience at Kuhlmans this past Saturday, February 15th. I was attending a wine pairing with a good friend of mine that is a member of the Heath Wineries and we asked if we would like to try their other brand of wine and when we did they used the pour with an argon glass shield. Our wine ambassador was very kind but had a huge mishap that made my time horrible and left a horrible impression. While the ambassador was pouring the wine the argon gas must have exploded hitting me in the face about 12in or less away from the bottle. It literally injected wine up my nostrils and went front the top of my head down to my lap. It wasn’t a “small red wine spill” it was a bottle explosion all over me. It soaked my hair and got my entire face soaked ,hence this was red, not white wine. It looked like I had been at a paint ball competition. The staff was quickly to come over and clean up the table and the wine off the floor. Not one person asked if I was ok or if I needed anything…not even if I needed extra napkins, my friend had to ask for those as if they wasn’t obvious. My nostrils were burning with the wine from being shot up them. I was unable to finish or enjoy the rest of the tasting. I left in disgust with a red stained shirt and pants, wet hair and makeup wiped off by red wine and a rude, entitled manager named Jason that was only worried about us leaving so he could sit the next tasting. So please, next time before you make a decision to go to a wine pairing think twice about visiting Kuhlman Cellars. Not one person cared or made sure I was ok, they seemed to care more about the revenue than the experience and the customer retention. The gentleman next to me even was appalled by the staff and their reaction to...

I fully understand what an ADA dog is. I train my own dogs to levels 99% of dogs are not at. My dogs are trained in obedience that is on par with ADA dogs. If not better. Our dogs are also boarded at a professional trainer that primarily does advanced training, competitions, police and SAR training. These days, however, everyone is slapping "Service Dog" tags, vests, harnesses and collars on their dogs really....is your anti-dog policy (the way I view it) actually stopping whatever it is you are hoping to stop? I know the difference ADA and non ADA. "What difference does it make" is regarding whether it is non member with an ADA dog and a member with a non ADA dog. Surely you are aware of that conundrum. How is that fair? Because it isn't and it doesn't make sense. What you should do is if children OR pets are acting up, you ask them to leave. That simple. Instead of immediately making assumptions on potential customers.
And CLEARLY the background check comment is a joke.
Initial review:
Intentionally leaving a poor review not having visited (scouting the map for new wineries but also reading other reviews on the subject) based on the sole fact they discriminate against guests in regards to dogs. Members can bring their non-service dogs but guests can only bring dogs if they are service dogs. Are yall doing background checks on the members dogs to verify they are indeed service dogs? Laughable. What difference does it make? Health brands are the Walmart and Budweiser of the wine world, folks. Quantity not quality. I will admit Grand Rouge from Grape Creek is delicious, however. We bought a couple bottles some years ago. They obviously have a big foot print in the region but they care 0% about non-members. Ok, ok...maybe 40%. Keep driving; plenty of others around to enjoy with respectful...
