BlueBird Hill Cellars - Worth The Stop!
This was our first trip to Oregon and the Willamette Valley. Unlike wine country in Napa for example not all wineries are open daily. After doing some research, I set up an appointment to taste at BlueBird Hill. It was amazing. We sat with Sue (one of the owners/winemakers) and learned all about how BlueBird Hill came to be and tried some terrific wines. We did a library tasting and also joined their wine club. I sincerely appreciate these smaller operations. The experience is genuine and the owners are passionate about what they produce! Read moreWe stayed the night in the vineyard in our motorhome as part of the Harvest Host program. We had an awesome evening enjoying the beautiful property and views. The Our dogs enjoyed barking at the neighbors chickens and rubbing noses with the goats across the fence. After a collective determination that our dogs would play well with Sue and Neils pups they enjoyed each others company. (note that our dogs were allowed because we were overnight guests in a self-contained RV) We woke up to exceptional sunrise views. This small vineyard is owned by a husband and wife duo who do everything from scratch on their property which also includes their charming home. The wine is barrelled in their garage and the porch of the home doubles as a tasting room. It's all refreshingly different and yet their wines are award winning.
