My wife and I have stayed at many Texas resort ranches, and have fond memories from all of them. However, nothing compares to the experiences and personal contact we got from the Y.O. Ranch. We stayed there for our 14th anniversary and took part in several activities. Shooting skeet from the Wobble Wagon (harder than I thought). Shooting steel with pistols and rifles in their very well maintained and large ranges. Plan to go back and shoot their long range course soon too. I appreciate that they have different size targets at long ranges. Out to 1300 or 1400 yards I think. I've shot at other ranches at that range but they only had one large target. Too easy.....I like a challenge and Y.O. has it! The 50 cal wasn't available while we were there. Scott (asst. Manager) more than made up for it by letting us take the side by side for the weekend and for free! Not mention there side by sides are pretty sweet with a good sound system and blue tooth. He was more than accommodating. He even drove into town to get me batteries for my thermal and flashlight when they went out. We both felt a Real connection with him and can't wait to get back and catch up. We got an amazing tour of the ranch and houses as well. It's been 4 months since we were there and I can't stop thinking about it! Their outdoor kitchen is something from a dream and you can bring your own food and cook it if you want while watching one of thier many tvs and by one of thier many fireplaces. I'm from Texas and I feel more Texan from being a guest of the Y.O.! We may never go to another resort ranch now. There is so much more they offer than what's on the website. Just ask and the girls at the front desk will tell you or find out the answer. That's the main reason we ended up staying at the Y.O. in the first place. I was trying to book other ranches but the people answering the phone acted like they were doing me a favor and were not accommodating. Then I found the Y.O. and called them. Super friendly and helpful from the start. Canceled the other reservation without thinking twice. Scott was truly amazing and made us feel like the Y.O was our own ranch. We've stayed at very very pricey ranches in the past. The Y.O. is very reasonably priced and some activities are actually on the cheap side and better than other resort ranches. The food is awesome ranch cooking. The rooms comfortable and historic. Views and staff amazing! I have recommended the Y.O. to friends, clients, and after telling a buddy about it, he is taking his unit down there for training in thier military and law enforcement grounds. Scott, if you read this, thank you so much for everything and making our anniversary a very special one!...
Read moreWe just spent two days at the YO Ranch and it was spectacular! Jordan took us on a tour to see all the different animals they have and she was super fun and very knowledgeable! Highly recommend the animal tour. We got to feed some of the animals and learned a lot! Who knew Zebras and donkeys could mate and make a Zorkie?! So cool! She also introduced us to Patty and Thor the pigs in the petting zoo area. And all the other cuties in there!
Lisa was so sweet also! She introduced us to “Sissy” the capybara. We got to feed her several times and it was so neat to call her name and have her come swim up to us! We were there for our anniversary and Lisa made us feel so special and even provided us all the fixin’s to make s’mores on the fire they had lit the whole time.
I’m a vegetarian and Luis really took care of me for each meal! Very much appreciated! The food was fantastic and he was great to chat with!
Being able to take our dogs was just another bonus! We always love anywhere that’s dog friendly! They loved all the new smells out there and they also had a blast!

Read moreWe visited in early February and took the two hour private tour. First of all let me begin by saying that the provided lunch was excellent. And our tour guide, Diane, was very personable and accommodating. With that being said, it was a very windy day. In the first park, we only got close enough to the Waterbuck to take a good pic and see them clearly. All the other deer, etc were running crazy around the park seemingly very scared of something. Diane took the time to try to get closer but they would just up and start running. In the second park, where the giraffe and Llama were, things were much calmer, even though the wind was still blowing, we were able to get close and actually see them and take pics. I just don't feel like our tour was worth the $150 we paid for the two of us. We were hoping to feel like we had had a great experience instead of seeing all the different types of deer from several hundred yards away,...
