My now husband and I got married here in May. I had never been to Skater's Cabin, and Google Image Search really didn't give me a very good idea of what a wedding might look like. We got lucky, the rain let up shortly after all of our guests had arrived, and I can say that everything went just as perfect as possible, for a wedding planned and put together in about a month and a half. Our wedding was very casual and I suppose a little rustic, and Skater's Cabin was the perfect location for us. It is easy to find, and has plenty of parking. We reserved the cabin for $10.00 an hour, and even though it is a very public place that I would imagine is a fairly desirable tourist stop, we didn't see anybody the whole time we were there. I've shared a few photos from our wedding here, to hopefully help anyone else considering Skater's Cabin as the venue for their ceremony. It really was beautiful there and we even got lucky with the weather!

Love this place, easy access from the parking lot. Has picnic tables and fireplaces all around. There are plenty of trails to explore and the view of the lake and glacier in the background is the biggest bonus.

Great Nordic skiing today. My first day. Lots of people with and without their doggo companions. Good skiing. Good snowpack for walking!! I do believe spring will come. I heard the birds!!

The cabin itself is just what you'd expect at a public lake. 4 walls and a wood burning stove to warm up. It's actually rather spacious given the size of many "warming huts" I've seen. The cabin is used to get war while skating on the frozen lake during the winter. Given that the lake is fed by glacial runoff, it wouldn't take much to freeze!

The view of the Mendenhall Glacier and Nugget Falls is quite nice. I mean, you are 8ish miles away from them, but you can still see both. Bring some binoculars and you'll get a great view. There is also a beautiful little sandy beach just down...

Skater's Cabin gave such a great view of the Mendenhall. Glacier. We had heard it was nice and are so glad that we went out there. It's even better than the view from the official visitor center. Obviously there's lots of history there. Just a couple of plaques to help bring back the memory of what that place used to be. I'd love to be there in the winter time and hanging out, drinking hot chocolate,...
