Easy short trail with a great view. Easy trail with very nice walk for the non-adventurous that want a nice view. This site is located to the northwest of the Ben Refeil visitors center just off state road 240. There is a large/long parking lot for several sites at this location. The Window trail can be found off the south end of the parking lot. It is a boardwalk about 1/8 mile long that ends in a platform that provides a very nice view of the hills and surrounding area. A very nice and easy stop to...

1 of 4 trailheads that can be reached from this parking lot

Door trail (short) Castle trail (long) Window trail (short) Notch trail (short)

Animals not allowed beyond certain point (unless contained in bag or carrier)

Be weary of the Sun (virtually no areas for shade) -- very dry -- bring hydration.

Many places outside the established trails to explore/ climb on/ for pictures

As the sign says be wary of rattlesnakes ( especially near boulders, hiding areas or in the...

Going west to east in an extended cross country motorcycle trips and decided to do the Badlands. Desolate but beautiful! A woman approached me in the parking lot and asked if she could take a pic of my license plate. Explained her kids were playing a game counting the different licenses. They never thought they would see one from Hawaii (I'm from Maui). Definitely recommend this drive. Not too crowded. Hot but...

This is another very short, boardwalk trail Just .25 miles long, the trail ends at the window, a viewpoint of "the Wall" and the pinnacles and spires that make the badlands so famous. If you want to walk an easy trail but still get a good feel for the topography, this is definitely the best choice. Tip: The Notch Trail, Door Trail, and Window Trail all start from the same parking lot.
