If I could give this 0 stars I would. DO NOT RENT A PONTOON FROM THIS PLACE. Not only did they give us an anchor that was too small for the boat, but when we called the number on the boat to get help, we were gaslit and told us we were crazy for complaining that no one had every complained about. Then when we got back to the dock to try to talk to them and see what was going on, the younger guys that were working there admitted that they had a lot of issues with the anchor and were working to fix it. Then, wouldn’t help us with fixing it. When we went back out, we had issues with a sand bar that was unmarked and were more than 100 ft from the shore, which in turn affected the propeller.
After getting back and deciding to speak with the manager, we were charged $140 more for that propeller which was not our fault. And my fiancé asked to talk to someone about this and how displeased he was with the situation, and the manager on duty (on Sunday August 25) threatened to call the cops on him instead of discussing it. Then on top of that, she proceeded to show her ignorance and stated that there was no reason for us to be displeased, that anchors were not meant to hold the boat in place. The lack of professionalism, the waste of money, and the disrespect we felt was not something that makes us want to every return. This woman who was suppose to be a manager, showed not only ignorance but...
Read moreI am new to town and had some guests staying the weekend and wanted to find a beach where we could also enjoy some beers. I called around to the lakes and no one allowed alcohol on their swim beaches. So we decided to rent a pontoon!
It was a Friday when we went to Longview Lake Marina, so we got the weekday rate for a full day boat rental, which was really reasonable. The staff was all very nice and helpful. The boat was great and could fit 10 people. There’s enough fuel in it to last you a week. I don’t think then speakers worked, but we brought our own Bluetooth speaker so that wasn’t an issue for us. The lake was also deeper than the anchor line so when we swam we would just follow the boat’s drift until we got close to the shore or buoy line and then hop back on the boat and run back up the lake. The spillway was going pretty good so there was a pretty strong current in the lake but I assume that’s only temporary.
If you were born 1984 or after, you must have a boater’s license to operate a boat. We didn’t know this but luckily we had ONE member of our party who was old enough to operate it. Otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to enjoy the lake! The lake itself was small but on a weekday wasn’t crowded at all, we had enough room that the lake felt much larger than it was. I highly...
Read moreHad a forever memory type day with my dad here. He was dying of pancreatic cancer and only had a couple months left. As a kid we had a boat down at the Lake of the Ozarks and went there most weekends. I can still remember getting up at 4AM to go fish with dad. We no longer have a boat but I rented a pontoon boat for the day at Longview. Bought us fishing licenses and brought our poles and tackle, along with some beer and sandwiches and stuff. We didn't catch much but it didn't matter. We took the day to bond and have a moment of peace and quiet, just like old times. The guys at the marina were great and the lake is fun to explore although not a really big lake it's perfect for a suburban getaway. The rental wasn't particularly cheap but i'd give anything to have that day again. I really...
