This is one of those places that once you've been, you don't soon forget. Off the beaten path but well used by locals and KSU students, it offers walking/mountain bike trails, shallow wading at the crossing with deeper water just up stream for canoeing or kayaking. Reasonably clean for the level of maintenance compared to the level of use. Great place to take the kids on a hot day to romp in the shallows or to take a renewing nature walk to get your mind right. During rainy periods, the use is limited due to high water, so keep that in mind. Spring of 2020 was especially wet. Flooding rains scoured the creek bed and created areas of gravel deposition and bank erosion, but that's what nature does. Grab the dog, a bottle of water and a granola bar and get yourself some...

This is a beautiful, little area to see. Bring water shoes to enjoy seeing more and carefully walking across. There are areas where people set up chairs in the shallow water and other areas to sit down in the water. I didn't check to see if they were open, but there ARE restrooms next to the gravel parking area. A nice little walking trail follows alongside the creek past the restrooms in the opposite direction from the falls. It would be really nice if picnic tables were set up nearby. Please be kind and respectful of this nice area and discard your trash appropriately, not in the parking lot. There wasn't a whole lot of trash, but it was frustrating to see how disrespected this nice area was when we made our 2nd visit w/our daughter...

Pillsbury has always been a place where my family loves to go and have a good time! Although this year we have found out that u can no longer have vehicles down in the shallow waters-which is a bummer but laws are laws. The only con for me personally is the snakes and the restrooms they offer could be maintenanced better. If u have sensitive feet I recommend bringing old shoes or swimmers shoes.... But if you're ever looking for something to do I strongly urge u to visit here..... You and or your family and friends can enjoy playing in the water, rafting or canoeing, hiking trails, swimming or even bring ur dog out to play(but please ensure ur pet is friendly for other visitors...

Can you believe these are in Kansas? Central Kansas is full of unbelievable hidden gems like: Mushroom Rock State Park: Kansas’ smallest state park with unique rock formations. Kanopolis State Park: A beautiful state park with beautiful rocks, trails, and a lake. Pillsbury Crossing Wildlife Area: This waterfall near Manhattan, Kansas is a fun and beautiful stop. Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve: One of the largest remaining prairies in the nation has ecological significance. Rock City: These unusual round rocks are fun to explore. Coronado Heights: This castle near Lindsborg, Kansas has great views. SHARE this if you love exploring Kansas and all it has to offer! Which of these would you be most excited to see? . . . . #tothestars #tothestarsks #hiddengems #kansasoutdoors #explorekansas #midwest #midwestmoment #kansastravel

Pillsbury crossing was a nice place to see. Our dogs loved playing in the water. It was shallow enough that they were running through it. The little water fall was cool to take pictures of. There were a lot of trees and branches all piled up by the falls from the recent rains. Moderate amount of trash every where. There are pit toilets here and a few parking places There were a couple of trails by the creek that we walked down. We didn't get very far down them before the trail became over grown and a little dense. There are not any picnic tables.
