Smith Ranch — Attraction in Katy

I just wanna start off by saying I fell in love with this place in 2018 at their "East Extravaganza Egg Hunt". It was beautiful, neat and organized. This was my babies first Easter and she was 10 months old. They have a lot of things to offer from petting zoos, to party rentals. It's hard to find places like this that are privately owned and operated. Especially since Katy is becoming larger.

Which brings to me to the main reason I'm leaving this review. Today my family had a birthday party for my 2 year old daughter, the same 10 month old who was here for the Easter Egg Hunt in 2018. I booked this party back in January of 2019 paying my deposit and hyping my daughter, family and friends up about how awesome this party was going to be. The only thing we worried about was the heat and hoping it didn't rain. So when we got their this morning they sat us outside at a pavilion they set up with tables and a few balloons, large fan and a cooler of juice ready. They were warming up our pizzas to be served, and had two large bounce houses ready right by the pavilion. They brought out a pony for the pony rides. We had about 12 kids and 25 adults, give or take.

The first thing wrong was they had us outside after I had requested indoors, again due to weather. This was our main concern as we had our elderly great grandmother who can hardly walk who has a heart condition. This was our families main concern and I had made it known to them it was going to be inside with AC specifically for her. The person in charge did mention she could move us indoors but it would be a while because they had to move the bounce houses and it would take a while. No one was even inside. The other party was out at the other outdoor pavilion. None the less they informed me the fan would cool us outside, as it did not, and our great grandmother was welcome to go sit inside if she felt the need to. My concern with this is she wouldn't be around the party or see her great granddaughter enjoying the party festivities. My second concern was the lack of decorations. And I believe the package said they would provide goody bags for the children which we never received. I was a little disappointed with the lack of considering we have been waiting for this day for 6 months. And for the price I paid I was a little upset. Third, one of my guests had asked the hostess’s who were hustling sitting behind the table if they could have some water. They told them “no”, as they were drinking water themselves. My husband was more so upset. I really wanted to enjoy this day but just felt as if everyone in the family was complaining about the heat. Which made me feel bad as a Mom because I just wanted everyone to have a good time. I'm sure the kids enjoyed themselves. But I'm almost embarrassed of this whole party situation. This review is more of a 4.5 but I would rather give 5 stars instead of 4... I absolutely enjoyed this venue, my daughters party was a really big success. The wranglers were such a great help!!! I can not say that enough!!! They set up all the decorations, hung my banners, cut the cake, and set the bar area with my provided snacks and made it look fabulous!!!! They even enjoyed themselves throughout the party with cake and party hats (cat ears lol) There was a wasp/bee in one of the bounce houses and they were brave enough to take care of it for us!!! I have never felt more relaxed at my daughters birthday party, BIG thanks to those 2 girls!!!

The outdoor space was great, the play area kept the kids entertained, along with 2 bounce houses that were already set up upon arrival. My only little issue was the pictures I was sent of the area showed a trampoline, however there wasn't one. The kids were still entertained and then some!

Everyone seemed to enjoy the pizza, even if it was the take & bake kind. 3 Large pizzas were more than enough for 15 kids. All the adults that wanted pizza were able to get a slice, and there was still a few leftover slices. The drinks they provided for the kids were chilled as well as the water, they even had a cooler set up for that.

My only true issue with the party package was the time. Value for the money, could have been a little bit better. 2 hours was too short. With cake, and food there really was only like 45 min of play time for the kids. I truly think a party package of this stature should really be 2 & 1/2 hours, rather than just 2 hours. And we really did want to do an add on, but it didn't add on more time. My constructive criticism would be that if you add on something that takes more time away from the party, as an added feature, add on more time, even if it is only 30 minutes.

Would I book a party here again? Absolutely. I hope to attend some of their events as well. Overall, it was a beautiful area, everyone complimented on the amount of space, and the animals all around the pavilion were so cool...

My wife reserved for my son's party and they were not clear on what's included towards the party and your guest, and 1 day before the party called in to clear the food for my guests and is only for the kids not for adults, besides if you take your own food and drinks they charge you. I spoke with a "lady" named Jen and she was rude from the beginning of the conversation, I tried to work things out and she denied to cooperate, additionally she made me understand that my wife was a liar and if that is not enough she quote that I was cursing her (playing to be the victim). She didn't let me talk and always raising get voice at me. No manners, unprofessional, uncooperative and trying to nickel-dime you. I DEFINITELY DON'T RECOMMEND YOUR SPECIAL EVENT HERE!!
