Good beach but with limited access to the Ocean due to heavy presence of rocks on the shoreline. If you want to walk on the rocks, make sure to bring water shoes as they are very slippery.

Part of the appeal of this beach is its seclusion but given the limited access to the water given the rocks, many visitors are in a small area. Public restrooms are available, but expect a long wait as many people are changing in the stalls.

An additional appeal to this beach is the massive exposed root systems of the trees lining the beach. Its really fun for kids to climb, but also great to look at and enjoy

Note that if you walk 10 minutes east down Ke’e beach you’ll see a little river and beachfront without rocks. Explore around that area a little and you’ll find a swinging rope in a carved tiki statue.

Also note, access to Ke’e beach requires a Ha”ena park shuttle or day parking pass. Reservations for the day parking book weeks in advance sometimes even months. The shuttle parking is easier to reserve, but still books 1+...

YOU CAN'T GO if you don't have a reservation so congrats if you and your family spent thousands of dollars to experience Kaua'i only to be turned away after driving almost two hours to get there depending on where you stay on the island. Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance so since you don't have a crystal ball on weather I hope it works out for you because if you're day is rainy, you likely won't be able to get back to this beach another day during your vacation. I understand the state wanting to control overall visitors (counterintuitive to tourism but ok), but they also charge for this beach so it's a good money maker for them. Don't put this beach at the top of your must do list for Kaua'i as you might not get to see it. We drove two hours, were turned away, and wound up at Anini Beach which might have been an even better choice in the end and it was free. Also, if it's a weekend, plan to get to your preferential before before 9am as you will not be able to find a parking space on any...

Accessing this beach is more complicated than it needs to be since the website is so unclear. 1) the time options are for you to enter the park NOT how long you can stay there i.e. if you have entry from 0630-1230 that’s the time you enter not how long you can stay. 2) the walk from the parking lot is soooooo easy. It’s on a wooden platform and then you have to walk on some dirt for about 2 minutes to get to the beach. The website makes it sounds like you’re slogging through the trenches. You could definitely take a jogging stroller like a Thule with no problem. 3) there are bathrooms but no hand soap FYI.

There were practically no people and the parking lot was empty which I think means people hoard the parking spots and decide not to go since the reservation system is so bananas.

But this is a beautiful beach- I used to come Here as a child so it was wonderful to go back albeit a bit more complex with the...
