A great place to watch the sunset on one side and take a look at the foothills on the other side. It is right on Waimea Canyon Drive either as you're starting up the mountain or right before you get down. Depending whether or not they cut the buffalo grass, offers unobstructed views of the ocean and the neighboring island, Niihau. Definitely make it a point to stop by if you're ever in the area at around sunset. Or if your brakes start burning stop and enjoy the scenery for a bit while your brakes cool. It is actually between Waimea and Kekaha but you can see both from here but more so just the ocean and Niihau. Depending on the time of the year, most but not always, while viewing the sunsets from here will the sun go down into the water. The not so often times, the sunset is hidden behind Niihau or behind the other 2 neighboring islands. Although not as impressive as a "green flash" sunset, it can still offer a beautiful photo or memory. Also there are no facilities or trash receptacles located at this point. Just a parking space off of the road way with a great view. Hope this helps and i hope you enjoy if you do end up stopping here. Aloha

I think there is actually no name for this lookout but I like this naming of "Kekaha Lookout" and its breathtaking views!!! Among many spots where you can pull over your car safely on Waimea Canyon Drive, this spot should be the one where both ocean and canyon views are very impressive at just one stop. Morning is the best time to photograph island of Niihau and Kekaha town but sunset is also pretty good, too.

On a clear day looking Southwest you can see Ni‘ihau island far in the distance. (Which is located 15 to 20 miles from Kauai). Looking on the other side across the road you can see the beginning formation of the canyon. Nice stop to stretch your legs and look at the scenery.

Made our way to see Waimea Canyon State Park during our island tour. Was a nice drive up to the top with different views of the canyon at lookout points along the way. Take your time and take in the views of such an amazing natural corner of the earth! When you get to the top, you will see amazing views and see goats roaming the sides of the hills not to mention the resident roosters everywhere! Worth the drive and time to visit while in Kauai on this side...
