Really awesome beach, visited from Oahu. I was born and raised in Hawaii and I love all the islands, its got decent parking, be aware that this beach can be very dangerous with rip currents. Also if rains are heavy the river will flow so do not enter the water if rover is actively flowing, as water flow can change rapidly and send yoy out to sea. Notice warning signs posted.
On the topic of signs there are painted wooden signs that say residential parking only. These signs are not state enforced, they are placed by locals who hate tourists ( we don't all hate tourists you are vital to our economy) so take them with a grain of salt. It's unlawful to restrict access to beaches in our state. Goodluck! Do respect the Aina and...
Read moreNot a safe beach for tourist or young children. It’s dangerous swimming in the ocean. The locals make it look fun and easy but the rip current will suck you out and you won’t be sent back in. No life guards no restrooms. Really it’s a beach for the locals only. Swim at your own risk. Do not recommend if you don’t live here your whole life. Local doesn’t mean 5 months living here. Seriously dangerous to swim here if you don’t know the currents. Many lives are taken here due to poor judgment and lack of knowledge about the ocean. Please be safe. Anini is a great beach and tunnels , poipu also has calm family kid friendly beaches with restrooms and showers and...
Read moreLarge open beach (I didn't snap any pictures unfortunately) with plenty of sandy beach space. We spent all our time here swimming in the river and jumping from large rocks on the banks of the river. The river water is cooler than the ocean temperatures and takes a couple minutes to aclimate to. There was also a gentle river current and you need to check how deep it is where you're jumping before jumping. My kids, wife and I all enjoyed our time here and we will definitely be back to enjoy this...
