Of all the beaches 🏖 I was able to visit in Kauai, this one was my #1 favorite. It's the perfect balance of sun, ☀️ surf, 🌊 & shade.🌴 (I visited in October 2022) Pros: Plenty of sun. In high tide, the waves are tall, but gorgeous to look at. If you're a surfer, you'll love it! It's a public beach, but off the beaten path, so it's not likely to be crowded. Facing the beach, to your left is a lush tropical paradise you can explore, with many photo ops. To your right, all the way to the end, are reefs and a section with calmer waters, swimmable for a confident swimmer. If you're a beginner, wear a life jacket & you can freely frolic (or even snorkel) in the waves with no worry. The waves are high enough where you can boggie board or beginner surf, but not so high that you're afraid. Depending on wave conditions, stay close to shore. The cherry 🍒 on top are all the trees for shade. No umbrellas needed. The sand is super soft & golden. No need for beach chairs. You can comfortably sit or lay down on the sand with ease or even on an incline in certain areas. There's even a hammock, in the shade! Although I didn't have time to lay in it. Cons: No lifeguard on duty. No public restroom. So go, before you go. 😂 Limited parking, since it's in a residential area. If I went by myself, I would have stayed here the entire day, & slept on the beach! You can most certainly fall asleep hearing the waves crashing & the birds chirping (with no people chatter.) Feel the warmth of the sun, but be in the shade enjoying the intermittent cool breeze. I understand now, why they say Kauai is the honeymoon island. Many beaches are private & I would imagine most enjoyable with someone you're in love...
Read moreBeautiful secluded beach with a small community of homes in the bay. The water can get choppy during rain storms so be cautious of the weather before going in. This is a great beach for tidepool explorers and snorkelers. There is a huge colony of sea slugs and many dark-colored crabs to look at, located on the right wing of the beach scattered throughout the lava rocks. Parking is difficult to come by if you are not staying in a house in the bay (you can find many on airbnb) but there is a public access path. Surfing can be done here in the right conditions, but the waves crash right on the shore so it makes for a short ride. There are no bathrooms and no handicap accessible areas. Be aware: The tide can sometimes come up to the houses and cover the entire beach so watch out for your belongings that you set on the sand or put them in...
Read moreBeautiful beach and water colors when the sun is shining. There is a walking trail (Moloa'a Bay Ranch Coastal Trail) marked on the left side of the bay that rises up with awesome views of the bay, ocean water, beach houses and the mountains.
When you get to several large rocks and a narrow incline, continue if possible. Another trail on top will take you to another beautiful area with large lava rocks cascading down to the ocean waters for more exquisite views from above. The trail continues for some distance with more views of the coastline. I went as far as where along one side of the trail is a shear dropoff to the ocean; I get a little "weak knee"!
Have also walked the right side of the bay, somewhat past the lava rocks. More awesome views but believe better pics from the left side which has a better...
