Wailua Falls is a breathtaking natural wonder that truly captures the beauty of Hawaii's landscape. Located on the island of Kauai, this stunning waterfall cascades down 80 feet, creating a mesmerizing spectacle of water surrounded by lush greenery. The view from the lookout point is absolutely spectacular, offering a perfect photo opportunity for visitors.
As you approach the falls, the sound of rushing water fills the air, heightening the anticipation of witnessing its grandeur. The falls are easily accessible, making it a great stop for anyone exploring the island. There’s something incredibly tranquil about standing there and watching the water tumble into the pool below, especially with the tropical birds chirping in the background.
For those feeling adventurous, there are hiking trails nearby that lead to even closer views. However, be cautious as these paths can be steep and require good footwear. The best time to visit is in the early morning or late afternoon when the lighting enhances the natural colors and creates a more serene atmosphere.
Overall, Wailua Falls is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Kauai. Whether you're an avid photographer, nature lover, or just seeking a peaceful spot to reflect, the beauty of this waterfall will...
Read moreProbably the best view on the island. Hiked it early on a Sunday morning and had the entire falls to ourselves.
Parking is available at the beginning of the hike. Just drive to the falls like google maps suggests. You get a decent view from the road looking down which is tagged to my post. If you’re a little more adventurous and want to hike down to the actual falls here’s what to do: start by looking at the beautiful falls. That beautiful rock wall in front of you… jump over it. There is a trail on the other side. Turn right and walk away from the falls until you find a chain link fence. People used to crawl under this but they’ve closed it recently. Once you reach the fence, keep going along the fence until you reach a little drain area (maybe 10m). This is where people used to go under the fence. Follow the drain down and you should see a path and some ropes. Once you start it’s a very short hike down. 15-20 minutes. You can’t get lost.
WARNING: it’s very steep. Use the right shoes and be careful. Take it SLOW. It’s so short you don’t need to rush. I slipped and cut my leg pretty deep and it definitely tainted the experience.
Highly recommend but be...
Read moreWailua Falls is in the interior of the island of Kauai. To get there, one has to drive on a twisty narrow road. When you get there, there is a little parking area for about 16 small sedans. You walk from the small parking lot to the viewing area where you can see and hear the twin falls. It is impressive for a person seeing it for the first time. It’s my second visit there to show it to our travel companions. It’s still a pretty exotic place so it’s worth investing the time to go see it.
The behavior of people there taking pictures is appalling though. Some lady got up on the ledge and started to take pictures standing on it. The fall would have killed her because it’s a straight drop to the bottom from the ledge. Oh well!!
Overall, it’s a nice scenic place to take some pictures. The drive is a little unnerving but enjoyable nonetheless. It’s still Kauai - such a beautiful...
