15/10 I'd say. The volunteers that run the place are amazing, we met John and he was fantastic. We were there just as it was about to close so he stopped us to see what we were doing and was a great person. We chatted for a while and ended up holding him up but I can say for sure they're good people. The dam is still standing, and there are many seating areas with great views of it, the road to get down there is quite long but totally worth it. I definitely recommend walking around there's a foot path through to the other side of the dam where you can see how high the water sat. Its very cool and they also have an area where there's old pictures and a bunch of information about the dam before it broke. There's plenty of cabins and camping which can be expensive but if you're a member it's only 10 dollars to camp in a tent for the night. Very kid friendly, and seems to be dog friendly too just keep them leashed and pick up after them. The ruins are very well maintained you can tell they take pride in them. Don't forget to visit the old bayless papermill that's about 10 minutes to drive and a really cool (kinda creepy) stop when you're...
Read moreAs a park it's self .... It's a nice place . For events the leadership and organization lacks structure and informative relations with vendors . I do not recommend events here. Come see the Memorial and that's it . Dogs running loose and barking and growling and some people and running up to other dogs on leashes .... Not cool ! Any other park I've ever been to it's law of the country or the park that all dogs are to be on a leash and under the control of the owner. Not here ! Hope no one gets bit. Dogs coming into your site you paid for and using in as a bathroom . Very disrespectful of the animals owners. As a vendor who paid my fee to attend no instructions or rules laid out beforehand explaining they intend to play extremely loud music well into the night and possibly as late as 3 or 4 am. One of the park workers was hostel and threatened to fight .
This was my first time and last time ever going to this park and any event ran by the organization that runs...
Read moreThis place is such a cool find. We live about an hour and 40 mins away. We took a drive out the Coudersport pike and ended up the whole way out in Austin but it was WELL worth it. I never knew this place existed. The campground is perfect for a weekend getaway. It's clean, peaceful, tons of wildlife and you can tell the community really cares about this place!!
The dam collapsed in 1911 killing many innocent people, it's a good place to teach your children about hidden history of PA homeschool parents this is a MUST for a...
