This was a happy accident. We stopped here when my youngest decided she was car sick.
The lake path is smooth and well marked. The lake and stream are beautiful. We saw a number of anglers along the stream when we went in to the park.
The lake is deceptively long. Walking towards the damn, it is difficult to get a feel of scale. All told, it is a little over 1.75 miles each way from the front gate to the top of the damn along the road.
The park was still closed for the season when we stopped (mid April). Be warned, the bathrooms are shuttered and locked unless the park is open. During off season, the park is walk in-walk out (no vehicular access.) During open season, there is a fee for entry. You would pay...
Read moreThis place is in a beautiful spot. Surrounded by greenery, hills, sand and water. Only probs are there is absolutely NO SHADE. Personally, I like the option to sit in the shade if too hot and it's imp for kiddos to get out of the sun here and there. The other issue is that it gets slimy pretty quickly. Read moreThis is a beautiful damn to visit, just don't go swimming in the lake. Lots of area to walk around and explore on the waterfront and through some of the woods. Nice for getting exercise, fishing, picnicking, exploring rocks, and swimming if you choose to. The lake just happens to get a lot of run off and is typically shut down for swimming.
