This is a wonderful place! Horicon Marsh Wildlife Area in Wisconsin is a super cool spot, covering over 33,000 acres of marshy goodness—one of the biggest freshwater cattail marshes in the U.S. It’s a total paradise for anyone into wildlife or birdwatching, with over 300 types of birds like ducks and herons flying around. If you're a birder, then this is MUST VISIT Paddling a kayak or canoe is super fun and gets you up close, you can rent them from the Blue Heron Landing right in Horicon, or they also have guided tours into the marsh. most days on the water are bug free, but be safe, and you’ll definitely want bug spray for the mosquitoes just in case. All in all, Horicon’s a chill place to hang out with nature and soak in some...

Lovely way to spend the morning with our 3 & 7 yr olds. We loved the photo blinds to peek at the pelicans, story book walk and the boardwalk was magical with lots of 🐢 sightings. Paths are mostly gravel, easy and wide to walk on- and a jogger style stroller would be fine for the portions of trail near welcome center. Welcome center is beautiful with a kids area, snapping turtle and the gift shop is well curated. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly and next trip we will make use of one of their backpacks- lots of themed activities. Next trip will also include a trip to sweet peas ice cream shop in...

One of the best nature education centers I've visited very well equipped kids play/educational room , and actual classroom a shop with local goods clean restrooms just all around a very welcoming place ,the decoration is great too. The hiking loops are not the greatest or the longest but are great for wildlife spotting or a quick day hike there is little to no shade the paths are very easy and pretty straightforward mostly grass and a few gravel areas For parents an off-road stroller (air filled tyres/jogging style) can make it no...

Try to make it here to hike & bird several times a year. Great visitors center with all kind of displays to keep both adults and children's interest. Several hands-on displays, lots of free info on wildlife & history of the marsh, as well as things to purchase. Not to mention the handy, clean restrooms for after a jaunt on the trails. Features short interpretive boardwalk thru marsh and longer but very easy trails thru impoundment and up to the "overlook hill". Great in every season.
