Our recent family camping trip to the Kenai River Dipnet Area was unfortunately a terrible experience. It seems there might have been recent rule changes, but the myriad of regulations in place definitely made our visit miserable. We went with a large group of 10 family members, including kids, and were charged nearly $300 for three SUVs and a small U-Haul trailer. To our dismay, we discovered that trailers aren’t allowed past the parking lot—not even to the designated loading and unloading area. Additionally, you can't bring your vehicle to the designated camping spot without risking a citation.Unaware of this, we brought our SUV to the camping site and began setting up. Just 30 minutes later, two officers informed us of the rule. This meant we had to unload everything from the beach entrance and carry it half a mile to our camping spot. Essentially, we paid a hefty fee for parking lot space a mile away from where we were supposed to camp.Another frustrating rule is the fishing restriction: no fishing is allowed from 11 PM to 6 AM. This severely limited our fishing opportunities and added to our dissatisfaction. We wish we had been informed about these rules before being charged. Had we known, we would have turned around and gone to Kasilof instead. My advice to the management is to provide a detailed list of beach rules before taking people's money. This would prevent others from facing the same unpleasant surprise we did.Overall, the experience was a waste of time and money, and we left feeling extremely disappointed.

Love this beach! Our family goes here often just for simple walks to decompress. The view of Kachemak bay is stunning being able to see all the volcanoes. On low tide you can see jellyfish and search for agates. People who are also on the beach are usually super friendly. We can bring our dogs here off leash and let them run till their hearts content. Whether it is Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter you can always come here. There is always a place to walk and enjoy the scenery. Some folks even can bring their 4x4s out and drive along the back side. It can get a little chaotic during our fishing season …but that’s a given. I highly suggest coming to this magical place. Their is even a kids park just right before the beach.

Beach was nice. Not too much trash on the beach like there has been at previous times. People were friendly. I only rated 4 stars because some people let their dogs out of the car in the parking lot and they bolted right towards my dogs who were right next to me and my baby. They then went back to the parking lot to their owners who put them on leashes to walk on the beach. The dogs were friendly but I dont like enjoying the beach and having 2 dogs rush my family ans dogs while mine are on leashes. Other than that little hiccup the beach was great. Lots of sand in the vehicle entrance so some vehicles got stuck. Overall it was a good experience. Watching the planes fly over to land...
