I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science with my family, and I must say, it exceeded all our expectations! From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with warmth and enthusiasm by the staff, setting the tone for a fantastic experience ahead.
As a family, we were all thoroughly impressed by the wide array of exhibits and interactive displays that the museum had to offer. From exploring the wonders of the natural world to delving into the mysteries of science, there was something to captivate each member of our diverse group.
One particular highlight of our visit was the hands-on activity where we got to make "pizzas" out of wooden "ingredients." The attention to detail and creativity in this activity truly stood out to us. With a specific time limit, we found ourselves fully immersed in the challenge, racing against the clock to assemble our perfect pizzas. It quickly became a friendly competition among us, with the "ham" ingredient proving to be the most popular choice, always running out first!
Not only was this activity incredibly fun and engaging, but it also provided a wonderful opportunity for us to bond as a family and practice teamwork. Working together to create our pizzas taught us the importance of communication, collaboration, and problem-solving – valuable skills that extend far beyond the walls of the museum.
Overall, our visit to the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science was a memorable and enriching experience for our entire family. We left feeling inspired and eager to return, eager to explore even more of what this fantastic institution has to offer. A heartfelt thank you to the museum staff for providing such a welcoming and educational environment. We'll definitely be back for more pizza-making fun and countless...
Read moreI love bringing my toddler here! It's a perfect option for rainy or cold days (really any days!). The museum isn't huge, but there's plenty to do. If you want just the basics: it's education, attractively and engagingly presented. The museum has a small cafe, gift shop, consistently clean bathrooms, a room which I believe is for nursing parents, and various picnic areas and little trails outside, as well as, of course, the exhibit areas. There are many places to sit and rest or observe as well, which is much appreciated.
If you want details: The exhibits are really well done; many are interactive (touch screen to choose an animal to learn about, feel what a fox's fur feels like, crawl through a tunnel so you can see the middle of a diorama). There are many nooks and crannies to settle into to watch an informative video (the deep sea dive is a consistent hit for us!) read an educational book, do a puzzle or just observe.
We love the "Delaware room" as it looks and feels like being in the woods. It's fun to look at the dioramas and search for the animals listed on the screen, while learning facts about each one. We also enjoy the giant Delaware map on the floor, and discovering where locations we love are, and finding various ways to get there.
The museum has some live animals interspersed into the exhibit areas(dart frogs, snake, tarantula, toad etc)
The Nature Nook and Science/Technology areas are also go-tos, with the cave, archaeology, birds nest and various, little-kid activities in the Nature Nook, as well as the microscope, robot, magnatiles and interactive sandbox on the science/technology area.
We have been several times now and still love it and learn something new each time. This place is worth a...

Some fossils are real and some are man made by experts with their research on actual fossils.
They explained about the history of the museum and effort that scientists spent on fossils.
They have food available inside to purchase. Outside seating is also available to have our own food. The trail at the back the museum is ok but nothing much there. If we've interest on plants, they listed the names the grown there.
Parking is free and plenty available. Lots of pictures can be taken outside itself with the animal statues outside. Kids love them.
Inside, they have audio at each attraction to make it real, even though the fossils are not which is very nice.
We should watch for each animal they listed as some are not visible unless we notice them as they were designed pretty awesome which shows their...
