Cave Hill Vineyard & Winery LLC — Attraction in Kentucky

We visited last weekend just on a impulse and we were absolutely intrigued by what we found! The place is beautiful and, in spite of a very challenging winter, everything was spotlessly clean and beautifully well maintained. We walked into the wine tasting building to be greeted by the owner. He treated us like old friends and immediately made us feel welcome. What we thought might be a 15 minute stop turned into a 2 hour visit... The owner, who is also the vintner, was so knowledgeable about his wine making and he seemed eager to share his knowledge. He allowed us to taste each of his marketed wines and each one came with a fascinating story. We were also made aware of a brand new wood fired outdoor pizza oven that was recently installed at the adjoining outdoor covered space. This area will be open to the public and offer live music when the weather is nice. Here you will be able to get pizza, sandwiches, beer, and excellent Cave Hill wine. We always make a point to visit locals businesses when we travel, but this one stood out! We liked all the wines we tried, but most importantly, the owners were even better. We sat and chatted with them about both life and wine. 🙂 He was very knowledgeable about the different grapes he used, and the reason behind how he ferments his wine. He and his wife were also very kind as we were talking about life in general. While this winery is off the beaten trail a bit, it’s worth the intentional stop. The winery is well kept, beautiful, and full of life. They often do wood fired pizza on the weekends, which I hear is a hit! We unfortunately missed the pizza at the time we visited though.

My wife and I were driving down to Lake Cumberland when we saw the sign for Cave Hill Winery, and decided to stop by. We definitely are glad we did! The location is stunning, an amazing location to hold a wedding or outdoor event! We did a tasting and ended up tasting every wine, including the wine-a-rita. The wines were fantastic but we were more impressed with how he was able to get such amazing flavor without being too sweet. Especially with the Kentucky Mullet and the Ashley’s Apple. Also a big fan of the Norton Reserve, very smooth with a nice oaky finish. Will definitely be ordering this wine when we head...
