I experienced a blow out and ended up sitting on the side of the road about mid way on the bridge. I had a enclosed trailer attached to my truck. It was the drivers side back tire that blowed out. My hydraylic jack would not go high enough to get my spare back on the truck. I had to go to the upper end of the bridge and get a hugh rock to sit my jack on and was finally able to get the truck up high enough to get my spare on. Keep in mind 18 wheelers are flying by and shaking me and the truck. This is a really bad place to have a blow out. If another vehicle would of veered off the road from not paying attention it would not of been a good day. Lexington police showed up and had his lights on it seem to not help any i believe the on going traffic thought i got pulled over and they just kept zooming by. Wow if anybody reads this PLEASE get in another lane if you see somebody on the side of the road with a flat. I did not have one person stop and ask me if i needed help or if i was ok. Im gonna stop and try to help somebody when i see them on the side of the road with a flat. Some people may not be able to change a flat. Drive safe, help others and stop ti help others. Thank you. same. If my review helps you in any way can you PLEASE leave me a thumbs up like on my...
Read moreThere is Something Special about this section of northbound I75. Esp. in the morning. One of my favorite places in the world esp. when there's fog.
-And there's fog practically every morning-
It just makes you feel a calm. That something is actually right in this turbulent turbulent world of ours, that despite all of the bad craziness and negatives that arise in our daily lives there is still Hope and Miracles (you have to pay attention though) and Unbelievable Beauty right when you're crossing the Kentucky River at Clay's Ferry.
And it is ALWAYS that same feeling for me.
Love it!!!!!
It's hard to explain. I guess you have to experience and see it as much as I have over the years.
-HIGHLY RECOMMENDED-
UPDATE: 04/26/2022
Just reread my original review & didn't change a thing. I also started praying for everyone in my life EVERYTIME I cross the bridge because it makes me feel so good. With my Daily Prayers, that is 3X daily during my work week because we need it & it...
Read moreWhile rather boring to cross, the Clays Ferry Bridge carries I-75 and US-25 over the Kentucky River. At highway level, there isn't much to see other than three lanes of in each direction with a low wall that overlooks the river. There are clear signs prohibiting stopping or pedestrian traffic on the bridge. I'd have to guess they had traffic problems and maybe BASE jumpers here as it is some 200 feet over the river.
The bridge is actually three bridges, with the original piers from the 1946 and 1963 bridges being used as part of the construction of the new bridge. Completed in in 1998 there are three lanes in each direction and full-width shoulders. Each northbound/southbound roadway is 60 feet wide and it was most recently resurfaced in 2021.
There is no toll to...
