I'm giving this coaster five stars because I love it's layout. When I first heard of this GCI wooden coaster I was planning on swinging by Beech Bend to give it a spin. It's impressive when you first see it. Imposing and built on a hill, which it uses masterfully. The first drop and a few other turns give superb laterals, especially for a GCI. Which tend to have highly banked forceless turns. The airtime is peppered in and compliments the ride's forces nicely. Overall the layout is a masterpiece, and it was one of my favorites on the trip. However! This coaster desperately needs some track work! It is the roughest wooden coaster I've ever ridden. From the second me and my friend started down the first turn into the first drop I had a bad feeling. The train shimmied violently throughout the entire ride. The jackhammering was persistent and obnoxious. The front was bearable but the back row was bad. It's sad because the coaster would be one of the best if the park cleaned up its track. I am glad I went to the park and rode it, but it was in sad shape. It also was having serious issues with the restraints. Midride the seats in front of me had the bars slamming up and down the entire time. I'm not sure if it was just having a bad day or what but it didn't seem well maintained. My first ride on the Rumbler one of the ops didn't even check my lapbar and they were about to dispatch us when I said," Hey you didn't even check my restraint." Which was stuck in the open position. After telling a team leader, the ride was closed for the rest of the day because of restraint issues. I have never feared for my life on a coaster, but I did not want to find out what having no lap bar on a woodie this rough would do. It also didn't help that the op who didn't check my restraint had only worked the ride once. He had just started working there and this was his third day, and his first day on the Rumbler. One of the ops at the main panel also told me," It's called the Rumbler, it's supposed to be rough." Which I found completely unacceptable. It's just being cheap to let you're star attraction degrade that much. It looked like they haven't done track work in twenty years. Which considering the ride's aggressive layout is not a good thing. So Beech Bend if you want to keep people coming back, definitely consider cleaning the Rumbler up. Because with how badly it was running and how poorly it was operated I do not intend to come back. The park was cute and wholesome, with some of the more awesome operators I've ever met. But when your star ride makes a coaster enthusiast nervous for their safety and is so rough that it doesn't even draw lines, something...
Read moreIt's no good for anyone over forty or so or if you have problems with your back or neck. It's not that it's a wood roller coaster, it's that they made it to bang you around and vibrate you to death. Very unpleasant. I could not enjoy the roller coaster aspect...
